Second from the top annoyance, these spambots that post meaningless one-sentence comments to get to their 15th post as fast as they can, totally disabling the function of the "new posts" search.

Think that's it.
The notices for new visitor messages do come up in your personal CP, near the top of the page. But if you don't check it often they can be overlooked, yeah.

cheers

I saw that but I meant a notification, the same as a PM notification. Not a pop up cos that's far too alarmist, just in the top corner where it says private messages, it should have something on display there.

I suggest putting all members over a certain number of posts who aren't currently banned (150 posts?), into a new user group which means they can post without needing to have stuff approved, members wouldn't need to have journal entries approved and going by what I've read on here that could take up to three days.

Then create another user group which means everyone who signs up has to have their posts approved by a moderator before they show up. This would stop the spam problem Paul Smeenus is referring to. Would also provide more work for the mods . Win-win imo.

Best suggestion I've seen so far, as the chances of established members posting spam or trollish comments in their own or somebody else's journal is remote. I would though increase that 150 though to at least 500 probably.

We've got plenty of those types. We like to call them the affluent unemployed.
You're talking about a country where a non working man's benefits can exceed that of a working man's wage.

Oh, we have poor people/working poor, don't get me wrong, but I don't think they need Supplemental Nutrition Assistance.
If they can't afford McDonalds they have to eat healthily. Much cheaper.
