Happy holidays - now go away! Nearly two-thirds of vaccinated Americans plan to BAN unvaccinated family members from holiday gatherings

Cool!
Damn right. The last thing anyone wants Santa bringing them is Covid for Christmas!
"God rest unvaccinated folk; intensive care for you..."
(To the tune of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", duh)

What's it been like with Covid and our MB family?

I have managed to avoid it, including not having any need to be tested. I am just out of a 3 month lock down and am dying to see my parents for Christmas. They are in another town.

Hi, Celladorina. I don't think we've met.

I managed to avoid Covid too, mainly because I'm pretty much a hermit only going out for shopping and doctor appointments (bad heart, taking care of step-dad). Just got my booster so hopefully the crisis is over for me at least. Guess time will tell though.

Yep, hermit is the way to go. Everyone here has heard already, but I'll just let you know that Karen was in hospital at the height of the pandemic 2019, not for Covid but it was still terrifying that I worried she would not come back. Had to get special permission to go in the ambulance with her to the hospital, place looked like something out of a science fiction movie with the tents set up outside and so deserted. Doctor didn't help by shrugging and saying, when I eventually managed to get in touch (and she only picked up the phone by accident) "not in her ward but it could happen any time." Thanks doc! That's really what I needed to hear!

Luckily she got through it and home safely. We're both fully vaxxed now though the incidences are going up again in Ireland, so it's still a scary time. Nobody else in the family affected thank the Great Pixie. Lost the last of our cats though (RIP Eddie, 2002 - 2021) so we are now a house of no cats. :(

I'm glad to hear that. I have to wait 3 months for my booster. That's so sweet you look after your step-dad.

I am so so sorry to hear that darling. OMG some doctors have no bedside manner, fr! Glad to hear you're both doubled vaxxed. We were in lockdown in Auckland for 107 days and now I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks that come at random times.

Plankton 12-09-2021 08:15 AM

I haven't done any shopping yet. Zero, zilch, nada. Panic Mode is nigh.
