How the **** Are You Supposed to Take Online Classes When You're On the Internet
 

Seriously? I'm taking online classes for a community college, and on the second day I'm already having issues with commitment. I've always been terrible at maintaining interest in school, and studying, and doing work, and pretty much everything associated with institutional learning. I've always been smart enough to skate by, but if I'm not even being forced to sit in on class, and I don't have a teacher to talk to me face-to-face, I sense trouble. My grandparents have fronted almost a thousand bucks for this, so slacking off just isn't an option.

So how the **** am I supposed to go against my most deeply ingrained urges to laziness and procrastination, especially when I have to do it ON THE INTERNET?

S'why I actually go to school brother online I got 86 Windows open and nare a one is school related.

Unfortunately I don't have a car, and my reliable means of catching a ride might not be so reliable in the near future, so online seemed like the best option at the time.

Hang in there, man. I understand your pain. Online classes can be awful because they often don't work or just load improperly, and are easily overpowered by the distractions of the internet. I've got no advice for you, but try to remember that completing all of the tough courses with passing grades and finally getting that bloody degree is one of the greatest reliefs known to man. Sounds like a tough course, but I know that you can kick it's ass.

Put as much time into doing the work as the professor puts into teaching the class.

Usually it's somewhere between fuck and all so you should be fine.

I'me sure the two courses I'm taking are not in the least bit tough, but my ability to procrastinate is world class. I just wish procrastination was an Olympic sport.

Yeah, it can be a test of will power at times. You should create a new User profile (if you can on your Chrome book), and only have a link to your course site on it. It may decrease your chances of wandering.

I procrastinate all the time as well but once you have a good understanding of how much work the teacher expects you to do you can judge just how long you can put off the assignment and how much effort is required to get that A.

I feel bad for people like you (not really, but you're an interesting group). You seem pretty intelligent when your not fucking off, and I'd imagine the work comes relatively easy for ya. What's your beef with learning new stuff? I've always loved being in school just for that reason.

@Loathesome, rule of thumb is for every 1 hour in the classroom you should be spending 2-4 hours on the work/reading. Obviously for many classes that's not the case but I've had a few that were like that.

Go to a public library. You might find that you're more into study mode there than sitting at home and playing with your balls.
