The "Why doesn't anyone like my thread?" thread

If you're like me, God help you. :)
But if you are, you've probably started your fair share of threads that didn't catch on, were posted in for a while then died or just sunk into obscurity from day one. Here you can remind people about those (to you) fabulous threads and maybe see if anyone will bother to tell you why they no longer post/never posted in them. Who knows? Maybe you'll get renewed interest in your thread and it'll come back to life, but at worst at least you'll find out (maybe) the reason your thread sucked. If it did.
http://cf.chucklesnetwork.com/items/...me-xxxx-it.jpg
This does not apply to any of my threads of course: all mine were and are great, and anyone who ignores or does not like them is dead to me and also a moron.

Blarobbarg 03-07-2015 02:59 PM

Trollheart, you're a great guy. You help make this forum what it is. That said, your worth is not based on how many comments you get in the million threads you start every month. No need to be insecure about it.

Keep starting threads. Some of them flourish, some of them don't. But all of them do something, and it's those little somethings that make MusicBanter work.

In the words of a good friend of mine, "You do you boo-boo."

Isbjørn 03-07-2015 03:01 PM

Meh, who cares. They're just threads. I've started some **** threads, and I'm the coolest dude on here. Go figure.

Key 03-07-2015 03:04 PM

10 bucks says this thread will be complete irony.

It's getting replies, though.

Trollheart starts too many threads, that it's almost impossible to keep up with them all.

For example I've not really checked in here for about three/four days and finally saw that the long awaited Star Trek month was up at last, but then I saw he had written pages on it and I though **** it's going to take me ages to read all this unless I skim it and skimming Trollheart's posts often misses the depth of his writing anyway.

I'm boycotting this thread.

You may be surprised to know, I didn't start this because one of my threads died. Didn't you read the disclaimer? ALL my threads are AWESOME. ALL! ;) Seriously, it's just supposed to be somewhere people can ask about, get feedback on or just annoy everyone about dead threads. Take nothing seriously.

Thanks man; nice to know someone takes the time. Or, er, doesn't take the time. You know what I mean. Some of the entries are relatively short though; they're not all Trollheart epics. Check the "Greatest moments in Trek history" I just posted for example. Very Urban, I feel...

bulbasaur 03-07-2015 05:27 PM

all of my threads are perfect

Trollheart 03-07-2015 05:28 PM

Yes. Yes they are.

Neapolitan 03-07-2015 06:19 PM

You see them everywhere. They have nothing important to say and you **** right sure they are going to say it in every single thread they post in. And yet irregardless of being the most active posters that act like a pair of automated external defibrillators that keeps MB from flat-lining the one's thread dedicated to the others the thread just fell off the map after two replies. So why, why did the thread get ignored after all his hard work he put into it?

http://www.musicbanter.com/lounge/80...ng-thread.html

One person dared, and the other was dared and accepted, and thus sets the precipice of his response in this thread:

http://www.musicbanter.com/lounge/80121-dont-mind.html

He promise "Maybe more soon." but none never came. And politely asked "Post what you like!" and sadly enough only one person did.

http://www.musicbanter.com/lounge/80...um-covers.html

It was so incredulous what he had seen, that he immediately inquired into the matter and after some stealthy gum shoe work found out it was due to illegal activity.

http://www.musicbanter.com/lounge/80...-happened.html

He had a project to do, a survey, and it was like a monkey on his back. He was knee deep in work with deadlines to meet. He needed help but quick, and turned to MB thinking it was the right place for helpful insightful answers. But despite a desperate plea he was ultimately ignored.

I have made several threads which have received exactly 0 responses. Do not disturb me.

RoxyRollah 03-08-2015 07:13 AM

Some threads should be locked from post #1.

Dylstew 03-08-2015 07:30 AM

What a ****ty thread, mine are so much better.

You generally say that when it offends your stuck up, socially conservative, Tea Party values. Sansa was right.

Urban Hat€monger ? 03-08-2015 08:38 AM

One of my favourite threads was when I started a thread about a band that got 1 response, until 2 years later when Pitchfork raved about the same band and suddenly it became popular.

That's pretty fantastic. Please tell me you had the class and the tact to mock those shallow ****s about it.

Urban Hat€monger ? 03-08-2015 08:58 AM

yep

The Batlord 03-08-2015 09:01 AM

What thread is this?

Urban Hat€monger ? 03-08-2015 09:04 AM

http://www.musicbanter.com/indie-alt...eerhunter.html

My mistake not one post, one page.
You'll notice the first page is all 'MEH' posts. Then between posts 9 & 10 there's almost a 2 year gap then suddenly everybody loves them.

I guess I called them out in a different thread, doesn't seem to be in this.

Edit: Oh here it is

Don't mind him much, he's one of Hermione's subs. He actually has to pay herm for saying that to you while he's dressed in a tutu & dancing the funky chicken.

And all yours will have sensible hair cuts and think less of you for giving it up on the first date.

I like to think I'm classier than that. That's why I have them pay for a cab.

Ive made a couple of threads i wish got more attention but i don't care enough about them to plug them.

It's weird, i often think of making a new a thread but then i start thinking how members will interpret the subject AND if the subject has been done to death like all those "Mainstream music" sucks threads and by the end, i over think it so much i don't do anything at all.

Same here. I think of threads and let them go and someone else post nearly the same. I was going to do a thread about short lived closed threads e.g. http://www.musicbanter.com/lounge/80...-happened.html but Trollheat beat me to it, although his includes both open and closed threads. Another example was I started a thread that kinda died early about celebrities who recently passed away in the Media forum, it was replaced by Vanilla RIP thread in the Lounge. I like Vanilla's title better and it made more sense to include anyone famous, not just celebrities. My all time favorite thread I made that vanished was about Beatles coversongs. From my point of view it was more about the bands that did the coversongs more so than just another Beatles thread, but I guess someone in high places thought otherwise. To see that thread disappeared killed my desire to make any threads at all.
