Well get used to it, cause when you're an accountant with a decent house, you're gonna be setting me up on your couch. Make sure to keep beer in the fridge.

The only good thing about this country is that occasionally DwnWthVwls swims to Japan for a week or so.

Woah, this sounds like a London vs Manchester vs Birmingham vs Liverpool thread to me. It does seem silly to compare them in various contexts but people do anyway.

Personally I gradually moved to Blackpool for the love of a good woman, she got me closer and closer with Salford and Bolton but eventually I relented. Having been here for over 2 years now I'd be curious to know what your Auntie's excuse was, since she was already on the coast?

And I'd forgotten about the zoo! Damn, will have to edit my post forthwith.

I think my auntie just moved there to be with her now ex-boyfriend, to be fair.

I've been to Salford once for a gig and Bolton once to pick up something off eBay, neither of which are particularly charming towns.

Not to sound like a district-ist w@nker, but I should've said Salford QUAYS rather than Salford. Big fancy block of apartments right by the office I worked in, but this was back when the area was vaguely attractive but had absolutely no amenities whatsoever. Much nicer now with actual supermarkets and stuff.

Nicest thing I'm prepared to say about Bolton is that there are some decent hills, the Middlebrook shopping centre is a useful thing to have close by and that the town hall is a visually impressive building.

While we're on other towns have you encountered Leeds? I went there to visit the original Reds BBQ place and the city centre struck me as being a mix of Liverpool and Manchester.

Yeah I've been to Leeds a bunch of times as I have friends who live there (and also I've been to the festival a few times as well). It's great, has improved tenfold over the last few years. I love the Leeds market building, one of my favourites along with Liverpool town hall which I posted on the previous page.

Nice video. That vid inspired me to do some digging. There's quite a few, but this one has some good footage.

Nothing like spending a beautiful summer day in the city though. I might take the train in and do some wandering this weekend.
