Both parents were smokers, and there was a lot of discussion about how the parents may not have smelt the leak because a lot of smokers' sense of smell greatly diminishes after being a smoker for an extended period of time.

I don't know how true that is, or whether it depends on how long you smoke for, but as a smoker I've always been able to smell gas in an instant. As much as sense of smell and taste may diminish, the smell of gas is pretty potent compared to other aromas. You'd have to be an uber heavy smoker for a f*ck load of years or just generally not have a sense of smell to not notice that kind of thing going on...

Unless it was a really slow leak, maybe...

Of course the sense of smell is diminished by smoking but you aren't completely numbed by it and gas has it's own particular odour that is immediately noticeable even if you are blind drunk! Carbon Monoxide poisoning is a different matter altogether as it's virtually odourless but if it was pure gas then that is an outrageous statement.

Was it pure gas or Carbon Monoxide? if it was the latter then no one is at fault apart from the engineers or manufacturers of the appliances.

Yeah, see I thought the same thing, it's weird. Unless they smoked a ****load inside that the leak was totally masked by the smell of cigarettes or something, but I always wondered how on earth that was supposed to make sense too...

I've been sick all weekend, nothing serious but it's completely drained me of energy. Basically I've either been watching movies, sleeping, on MB, or occasionally listening to music when my head isn't pounding. It's pretty lame, I was going to make a Tesla Coil this weekend...

I've been getting settled into the new apartment. Finally got most of the furniture in. Did some decorating. The cable internet will be hooked up on Wednesday probably... for now it's unreliable wireless leeching.
My summer semester is out early, so I've been being pretty lazy. I think my entire day consisted of waking up, eating some eggs and yogurt for breakfast, making some coffee, doing the last bit of scheduling paperwork for next semester, watching a movie, playing with the cat, staring at a roll of duct-tape and marveling at its green color, and now drinking a few beers and MB'ing.

Make sure you keep some Coors handy just in case.

All of my closest friends are dealing with insanely hard stuff at the moment. One just broke up with her fiance, one is nursing her father after major surgery because of cancer, one is patching up her broken family (again), and another is trying to help his dad through a separation with his step-mom. I really wish I could be in 20 different places at once right now :(

Woke up this morning on my friend's couch with the most intense hangover i've had in a long time, i thought i was going to die. Various friends were strewn around the room in a similar state and others could be heard having sex upstairs. Had a really great time at a house party last night and it was really great fun getting drunk with people i hadn't seen in months. There was FAR too much drink at the party though, the amount of drink left over this morning was unreal and we had drunk quite a lot.
I had Smarties cereal and oreos for breakfast along with another can of Bud. There was a 'wasp holocaust' on the garden table outside where we were all drinking last night, loads of wasps had basically fallen into the (near) empty bottles and died.
Got home a couple of hours ago and now i'm having a hangover music day. Music just sounds awesome on headphones when hungover.
