I'm so lost! I haven't had internet the past couple months, and I've been busy getting into the military life and class and all that, I've had no time for music the past few months. I've heard maybe 4 or 5 new albums in the past few months till I got my internet back. And I still hadn't had time to look into much of the stuff I've been wanting to hear for a while or new music since boot camp back in January... I've got a lot of catching up to do. Which is fine with me, I nearly forgot my love for finding amazing new music but I'm back! Now to try to work my way through all my favorite blogs I haven't been to in ages...

I know what you mean man, it's tough, especially in A school. But you'll get back into it, I was lost for about 4 months myself in school. It didn't help that all my roommates were thugs and listened to the worst rap music you've ever heard constantly, not even my Bose headphones could block that **** out. Concentrate on your school work and try to be top of the class so you get to pick where you go. I would try to go somewhere like San Diego where there's a good live music scene and lots of outside activities to enjoy on liberty. You'll like being out in the fleet a lot better, even though you'll probably be on the carrier.

i started a new job today on two hours of sleep. it's a small toysrus and i'm helping set up the seasonal store. i plan on quitting this job asap because:

i am supposed to ask every customer the following: do you want batteries with that(regardless of item), do you want to sign up for a credit card, did you find everything ok, do you want buyer protection for that, would you like to sign up for a toysrus loyalty card, would you like to sign up for the birthday club.

most of the customers are stressed out stay-at-home moms that want to choke me out.

i absolutely hate retail supervisors and their faux-shine.

i absolutely hate pretending to be overly happy.

i have a big problem forcing myself to bullshit anyone about anything.

i would rather be a substitute teacher.

in other news, i just updated about 100 ratings on RYM.

Today I had an excellent first day of college, and this bro I've had a crush on for like three months but haven't had the courage to talk to finally talked to me. I think I want to marry him/kidnap him and chain him in my basement

Oh god I really hate that. It's so depressing when a beautiful girl can't type properly. I keep on having to remind myself that not everyone puts the same level of judgement on spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalisation ... but that doesn't always work.

Why did you take the job in the first place? Especially since you know what sales requires. For the record, I'm trying to sell shit now and I really can't be arsed with the forced jollity. I don't think there's anything particularly better out there though.

My day is about to pick up though, I'm having Greggs for dinner.

I know how you feel, when I worked retail for a couple of months I hated having to ask them for more money than they intended to spend. I also hated having to puke out those god awful lines.

I always liked sales, of course I worked on commission for a while, so that definitely helps. I just looked at it like a game, it's your job to gain the upper hand in the conversation and make the sale. There's a lot of factors that go into closing a sale, like reading the person and knowing which product to push. You have to read the situation and decide how to push the product once you've decided which on to push. You have to gauge the costomers tolerance for sales, and if tolerance is low, you have to work harder to disquise you technique. I know some guys who worked at the place place I did who went with the "I'll just invoice it and not tell them it's extra, and they won't have the guts to tell me no" approach, an approach which I loathed. But I went with a more up front, informative, and supportive approach. An approach which is equally effective on a wider variety of people.

I don't look at sales as a sleazy art or job, if it's done right. I certainly have seen my share of sleazy salesmen/women in my day whom you can tell within 3 seconds that they're obviously working for commission. But if done properly, a good sales approach that is executed properly can be beneficial to all people involved.

I know what you mean about the cheesy lines, and I would try to stay away from those. I'm more of a work it in conversation kind of guy, be friendly (genuinely, not fabricated), and be compassionate to their needs and capacities at the time and you just might find that they need what you're selling, or maybe they show an interest. See, the problem is, most people pretend like they don't give a **** because they sense that you don't give a **** about what your selling. You can only sell what you believe in.
