Managed to finish a first draft of my dissertation after an overnight 10-hour cramming session yesterday, which I've taken as license to do nothing all of today but watch the football, sit around in the sun and drink cheap cider.

Good times!

Just got back from the local store. Went for a bite to eat, and saw that they are doing some remodeling on some stores. I was totally unaware that they were even doing some remodeling to any stores. I obviously don't get out enough.

Well my new roommate flaked on me today but that's fine.

What goes around will come around to him.

Bad day, initially. My parents are still going through their divorce, but trying to work things out, which ultimately makes things more awkward for their three children (aged 23 (me) 21, and 12).

My best friend's parents are also going through a divorce, and my other best friend's parents have been going through a divorce for a year or so.

Things just added up and made for a horrible day of thoughts.

Although I did drink an entire bottle of wine and two PBRs, so I'm feeling better now.

Sounds like a Kid Rock song.

No but seriously, being a product of divorce myself, it's not as bad as the movies make it look. Just make sure to keep the love in the family and try not to take sides.

My parents split when I was 5, so I was kinda lucky in that I got used to it quickly. I have some friends whose parents split when they were teenagers, and they didn't want it to happen at the time, but... I've had other friends whose parents have stayed together "for the good of the children". The atmosphere of family in that house died a horrible death of squabbling and irritability. If they've got far enough that they're considering Divorce, then they've really spent long enough living in the same place, and it'd be far worse if they stayed together and ended up hating each other's guts.

If they're still amiable enough with each other to work it out calmly without needing lawyers to do the talking, you're pretty lucky. My parents will only communicate via Registered Letter, graduations are awkward :/ If they divorce, and keep being friends, you'll be in a much better position than if they stayed together and ended up never speaking to each other again.
