Awoke today with a persistent question in mind -

I'd really like to gather some objective literature on the nature of beauty as it applies to the arts and music. Surely elements of beauty are both inherent and learned, as perception of beauty varies by the individual or society, while other mathematical elements such as the golden mean suggest beauty can be an intrinsic value as well.

A quick Googling turned up citations from Listening to Popular Music, Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Led Zeppelin by Theodore Gracyk, University of Michigan Press, 2007. The book examines:

- Separating Aesthetics from Art
- Taste and Musical Identity
- Aesthetic Principles and Aesthetic Properties
- Appreciating Valuing and Evaluating Music

Readings like these will help me become a more objective and critical music journalist.

First of all, wut? Secondly, why is this "wonderful" news?

The (largely) white Christian’s financial dominance and exploitation of national and social policy over the last few hundred years is disgraceful and has wreaked havoc on the economic and social well-being of the nation’s peoples. Their dogma has no place in the legislative, judicial, or executive processes but through tax exemption, lobbying, and the learned obedience of the faithful, their organization exerts incredible influence over national and global events resulting in perpetuated poverty, a crippled educational system, the suppression of women’s rights and lowered-standards of women’s health, and the reinforcement of the disparity of wealth distribution all throughout American history.

It will be refreshing to see their influence fall to match their irrelevance in modern society.

I highly doubt that the white Christian majority of the US has been replaced as you've said, but assuming I believe you, who is the new top dog?
