So I hadn't been driving my car for a few weeks because the transmission took a dump as I was driving to math class one night, and I was waiting to take it to a mechanic until I could decide whether or not I wanted to put any more money into it, but I took it on a test drive around my neighborhood last week after it had stopped raining and everything seemed ok, I thought I may be able to get another year out of it - I only drive about 10mi/day anyway.
Then last night it was stolen (or was it Sunday night? I'm not really sure. I've had some time off and I definitely remember seeing it Sunday but maybe it was there Monday too? I honestly don't know), and whoever took it dumped it like 2 miles away from my house, on private property, so it got towed at the same time I was making the police report, and it looks like the engine totally gave out on them. Joke's on the thief, I guess, they probably tried to use the heater and the windshield wipers at the same time or something - you can't DO THAT to poor ol' Vigor Charles.
Anyway so I don't want to pay to get it towed back to my house or to a mechanic or anywhere, really, so in the end I cut my losses and surrendered my title to the towing company, who will sell it to pick n pull or whatever. I just got back from giving them my keys, and paying the $200 towing fee (because not even a copy of my police report would convince them the car was stolen before the time of towing, though they did knock off the storage cost) so essentially I just paid $200 to get rid of my car. Today sucks.
