Did you think I was talking about roosters? This is closer to swordfighting than anything.

it's all fun and cock jousting games until somebody loses an eye.

That's why you don't bring a kid to a cockfight.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 05-31-2017 03:01 PM

when kids are involved it's more like a game of snakes and ladders

I have wonderful news today - a friend recently remarked that, when a pool of negative energy is extinguished from one's life, that nature abhors a vacuum and that positivity will flood its way in to fill that void. Only days after finding myself living on my own, my life has been completely transformed by a beautiful twist of fate. I'd been struggling financially, and unable to afford a vehicle I was spending 3.5 hours a day simply bussing back and forth to work. I'd considered renting out half of my home, but my introversion and my eclecticism (and refusal to own a television), made finding a suitable occupant a bleak hope.

Then suddenly, my dearest and closest friend and coworker told me that his significant other just received her Masters in NYC and is moving this week back to our city and that they wondered if they could rent my attic. The perks are incredible - they are quiet, I trust them completely, the attic is less of an impedance on my personal space, and they offered to take me to a nationally-acclaimed grocer, (instead of my bargain grocer) every week to shop together and to cook healthy real meals, (a sea change from my daily bowls of sugary breakfast cereals). They would contribute half my mortgage, and they don't have a TV set. And best of all, since my friend and I work together 3/5 days a week, he will be driving me to and from work, saving me money on bus passes and taking hours off my daily transportation. The three of us could also go out together to help me develop socially. It's a perfect fit.

My life is transforming so quickly, but I feel ready for its pace. Thank you again, everyone, for your support!

I've never worried about ageing but frick the thought of turning 50 later this month is making me a basket case.

Excellent news, ISB. If God existed, he would always make sure to open a window when He closed a door. IF he existed. ;) But delighted for you. See: good things sometimes happen to good people. :thumb:

Been there, done that. Lost the T-shirt, however.

Hey folks, haven't been very active lately but also haven't forgotten about the board. Secured my motorcycle license a couple of weeks ago and have been spending literally every free waking hour riding around. Being a dual-sport bike that usually means I'm thoroughly beaten up and exhausted by the time I get home, which means falling asleep rather than looking for new tunes and plugging.

It's going to rain for the next two days out here so I might hit plug later this evening.
