Come visit. I'll introduce you. Pretty sad actually. Good people who can be pretty coherent and funny at times, but really crispy on the edges. Haven't met anyone yet who was actually tweaking. Just older folks who have a ****load of miles on them.

I'm told it use to be a big problem in the park, (actually most of El Cajon) but they hired a new manager a few years back who cleaned house.

Ok well the number of games I'll be playing on it is about zero

They probably learned from their mistakes, but that particular model was known for being able to run too hot. I killed it by playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on it. Too much for the poor thing.

Uh-oh!

As for my day, I just got back into town last night from my trip to attend the Hackers On Planet Earth conference in Manhattan with a few friends. Saw some great talks and workshops, took in the city, and now I'm glad to be home to recharge.

... turning me off HP!

Not sure if I should tough it out and hit a course today after work, but I haven't been outside all weekend because of the itching, swelling, fever and delirium (and neck pain possibly) from ^said spider bite. I have a tournament this weekend and Ledgestone is coming up soon. I need to keep my game on point and it's perfect disc golf weather today.

I'm an ASUS laptop fan for life. I've owned 3 of them. Only reason being that I kept upgrading to a larger screen. My current one is 17". Linda has my 15" and Mike my 13". All three continue to work flawlessly.

Got my umbrella base. Gotta work on the alignment.....

P.S. The car condom is because between my shade trees shedding like crazy and the desert dirt/dust thing, it's impossible to keep the Xterra clean.

ASUS eh? I had an ASUS, years ago. It was ****, but then, it was ****. Terrible specs. Very slow. 1 gig memory if I remember. Spent a lot of time looking at the clock, waiting...

You really keep those things nice and cool.

This sounds good, and PC advice from you is always worth listening to.

So, a lap tray or something?

I know you don't play games, but it's funny. In my mind, you just seem so much like the type I could imagine sitting and playing stuff like this while muttering about strategic options to yourself and stroking the beard you don't have

"Dad games" are a term I've seen being thrown around.

Anywhere that keeps air flow to the fan. The little tabs on the bottom of a laptop help keep it off surfaces to facilitate air flow. A blanket will 'suffocate' it like putting a pillow over someones face, but instead of it dying from asphyxiation, it'll melt electronics. Usually soldering points first.

And those soldering points are almost beyond microscopic. We're talking microns here.

I have no idea what that is but I don't like strategy games. TBH about the only games I've ever played with any sort of interest have been Starflight II, Doom, Doom II and Wing Commander. Oh, and The Bard's Tale.

I'll be sitting on my bed using it so yeah, I'm not exactly going to place it on the bed, lie on my tummy and support myself with my elbows with my legs back and in the air like a teenage girl (not exactly like that anyway) but I will be resting it on my lap, so I'm going to need something between it and my junk I would assume. Probably why my other ****ty laptop kept getting so hot.
Or maybe I'm just hot.

There is a likelihood of 1 to the power of 10 Googleplexes - 1 that this is true

Plankton 07-23-2018 02:52 PM

Some laptops have vents on the sides. It's just a matter of knowing what works for the type of laptop you have.

A lap tray would work, but I always use a large thin book.

Is the book "How To Stop Your Laptop Overheating"??
Seriously, why a thin one? Does it matter?
