We've been trying to buy a house and so far its been a ****ing nightmare
My wife changed her last name after we got married, and apparently that has caused huge issues when it comes to pulling her credit, and obviously we need that to secure pre-approval for the loan amounts that we want. I don't really understand why there's a problem, because I thought that was simply tied to your social security number and DOB, but our lender only pulls an error from all three major credit bureaus regardless. So we're trying to submit documentation to the credit bureaus about the name change, but there are either technical problems or we have to mail it to them which they estimate will take 6-8 weeks
That wouldn't be that big of a deal except we want to have the house purchased within a month or so. Our apartment lease ends in late January, and I am really ****ing tired of living in that apartment so we're kind of on a clock here.
I genuinely don't know if it will get sorted in time. First world problems overall but it's definitely stressful and the issues don't even make sense.
Moral of the story for the ladies: if you want to change your name after getting married, wait to do it until you've sorted out all of your other major upcoming purchases
