I've never gone to a bar by myself but I went to a club by myself once. My friends had decided to fuck off home but I wanted to stay out drinking and get drunk. I ended up talking to a random drunk Polish guy for ages who was fully convinced he knew me, even though I'd never seen him before in my entire life.

I wouldn't feel comfortable going to a pub by myself unless it was really quiet and the barman was good for a chat.

Anyone in the UK know if we do? I thought we got paid for it.
Pretty sure that if we do, it's about 30-40 dollars a day (federal), which is nowhere near the amount we'd earn at our jobs.

Edit:

Jesus, Jans... 9 bucks? You might be able to use that for some gas to arrive at the courthouse.

It varies from state to state, possibly from county to county. When I lived in Chicago I think it was $64, here in cheap-ass Philly it's $9.

Well I walk to the courthouse so I get to save my huge windfall for lunch.

I checked and we dont get paid for it either, or at least an employer doesnt have to. We can claim for loss of earnings.

The money I was referring to comes from the state. If you work at a salaried job your employer is also required to pay you for the days you're at jury duty. Unfortunately I'm a contractor not a salaried employee so I don't get paid when I'm not working.

Pretty good day. I interned at a design firm in Stroudsburg. He said I had the best portfolio at my portfolio review, which felt pretty damn good. And then my teacher said the portfolio site I did was one of the best he'd seen. Once again, felt pretty damn good. Some of the stuff people made is just so bad. We're graduating. You have to at least know how to make a decent website. This is one of my personal favorites.

I fried chicken all damn night long and I would have rather been on the surface of the sun.... so what am I doing now you are wondering... well I am sitting on a block of dry ice naked drinking a gallon of lemonade... I am going to use my sick time tomorrow.I am going to wake up and call them and if the air is still broken I am going to tell them I am" sick"......of the air being broken....

So today my parents came over for a mother's day thing, one day early because my sister has to work tomorrow.
Was legit.
Fried up some shrimp and made huge shrimp poboys. Dad brought over his bass. We jammed a bit. Then when we got tired of that, we got drunk listening to King Crimson on YT. I gotta say, and this isn't new to me, but parents are ****ing great when you don't have to live with them. Love 'em to death. Conditionally.
Happy mother's day, mom!

I definitely know that feeling, I really learned to appreciate my parents after I moved out .

Anyhow I had a pretty good day, got a lot accomplished and spent some time with my best friends and will be house sitting for them for the next few days, a little vacation from home.
