jumping off of cliffs is fun

so, me and some friends went cliff jumping this weekend (along with lots of drinking). we spent all of saturday at the lake, screwed around on the little 20 footer, then went over to the real cliff, the 60 foot one (or 20 meters if that helps you visualize). me and two of the guys i was with went to check it out, and the other two went lower down and on the other side of the lake to take pictures. walking over there, i started telling my friends "yeah i'm jumping it" so of course after saying it, there was no way in hell i could back out. once we got to the top, a bunch of guys were already there. they asked the three of us if we were jumping it, and of course, i had to tell them yes, not wanting to wuss out. so there i am standing at the top of this cliff. I look down and see a tree i noticed from the bottom, this tree is massive, a good 50 feet or so, and i'm towering over the top of it. the fear of heights started to come back a bit, but remembering my claim earlier, i edged closer to the edge. i shouted at my buddy across the lake to make sure he was ready with the camera, if i was going to do this, i wanted to be damn sure it was documented. i backed of a few feet, psyched myself up, and then went for it. biggest rush i have ever felt in my life. i was in the air for what felt like an eternity, and i've never been so aware of the way my limbs and body was positioned. entering into the water, i was surprised that it didn't sting at all. again, probably the biggest adrelaline rush i've ever experienced. and the best part of it all, was not that my buddy got a sick picture of it, it was that half the guys standing at the top that said they'd jump backed down after i did it, i love when that happens. anyways, had a fun weekend, wanted to share it, now i'm out. moral of the story, everyone should jump off massive cliffs.

well you got some balls i can tell you that, i would never ever do something like that, too afraid of heights you see.....good for you....
you should have posted the pic....

jibber 08-08-2005 09:52 AM

i'll post the picture once it's emailed to me, i cant remember if you can see the whole cliff in the picture, if not there were some other shots that show the whole thing. it doesnt look all that big until you see how small the people are in comparison.

PhishFood 08-08-2005 09:57 AM

that's awesome.... I'd like to say I'd Definatly do that... but if I was in the situation, i'd probly only do it out of peer pressure

ArtistInTheAmbulance 08-08-2005 12:05 PM

Woah, jibber's alive and posting, welcome back. And thats the sorta thing I woulda backed out on, no matter how much I regretted it laters. Good fer you anyways.. And yus, you HAVE to show the pic once you get it..

franscar 08-08-2005 12:52 PM

Pah, would you jump off a cliff if your best friend tells you to?

Oh. You would.

adidasss 08-08-2005 03:13 PM

20 meters man.....that is soooo high!!....the highest i've ever jumped into the sea was some 6-7 meters from a boat parked on the peer, i was 12 or summat at the time and it was soo high...it took me a while to do it and it also seemed i flew for too goddamn long but 20 meters is like bungee jumping, which i wouldn't do for a milion dollars, only if someone held a gun to my head......maybe.....

Oblivously some people have not yet been to the Alton Towers or The Giant Drop.

thanks, and yes, the pic will be posted, i'm stoked to get it. anyways, i'll be back for a bit anyways, i've got surgury coming up so i'll have way too much free time, no more cliff jumping for a while :(

blackTshirt 08-09-2005 01:17 AM

coolness, now you made all of us look like pussies :( at least me..... **** i can't even ride a bike...

i remember this one time when i was being chased by some guys and it was a dark winter night... i jumped off a higher platform thingy... and flew... and landed on.... the ****ing cold snow... fun, fun.. everyone was glad i survived... at least that's what they told me...

anyways, great thing Jibber hasn't forgotten about us.. (maybe just about me heh)
and if you were wondering what's up with blackT (me) well i'm in Paris for the fourth time... heh heh see ya later folks

jibber 08-09-2005 01:39 AM

^paris!? ahh you lucky b*tch. nah, you know i love you. my only regret was that i never got the guts to do anything other than a straight jump in. next summer i'm definitely going for a least a nice stylie spin, or maybe i'll have misty's (off axis front flip) good enough to try it out on the 60 footer.

meh, that's a completely different deal. it's a theme park, there's no way in hell anything could go wrong, and you're strapped in the entire time. i can't get excited about any theme park rides anymore.

the surgery wasnt a result of the cliff jumping then?

now that's just crazy...and i was wondering , how come it didn't hurt, i assume you landed on your feet, and the impact must have been horrendess, maybe you didn't land on your heels, that would have been disaterous...

Do you mean oblivion?

jibber 08-09-2005 06:38 PM

haha, no the surgery is a result of my f*cked up jaw alignment and the fact that my jaw pops whenever i yawn really widely. didn't hurt at all, landed on my feet of course, but the water was pretty soft, i was actually surprised at how easy the jump was. next time i'm definitely going for something more impressive than a straight jump. and hookers, great to see you again too

ok so here's the pictures, the first link is the cliff, so you can get an idea of how big it is, the second is of me actually jumping off of it.

phoenixflames 08-09-2005 09:16 PM

Dang! Thats huge! Congrats. I love to do stuff like that, but we don't have many cliffs here in Ohio, so you are forced to jump off of high things down to dirt. Can't quite go 60' to dirt... :)

No no, I'm not talking about your spelling, that's a ride at Alton Towers. The largest vertical drop, so I thought you were referring to that.

haha, i actually wasnt really scared before i jumped. i've gotten into a habbit of never, ever backing down from something after i've actually said i'll do it, so after i told so many people i'd do it, i knew for certain there was no way i could possibly chicken out, so it really wasnt scary at all. the only really scary moment was right before i hit the water on the first jump, i noticed i was REALLY crooked, and i remember thinking "oh f*ck this is gonna hurt" felt a little like i'd gotten punched in the chest by a very large blunt object, but it honestly wasnt too bad at all.

MORESOAD4ME 08-16-2005 07:38 PM

that is so crazy, i would never do that, to scared of heights!!
