I think it just speaks to your hatred of noise music, TH.

Not really. I just thought it was the best. Without the explained ending. Didn't even realise it had anything to do with noise music to be honest. Now that I do, I hate it. :)

I actually find it really interesting that you interpreted it as anti-experimental.

the structure of sunshine annoyed me. there's a lot of jumping around, but not in an action packed way. more in a the author added extra characters for the sake of having more characters kinda way. it got better as it went on though.

It's obviously a propagandist piece to make the public believe that experimental musicians are inherently mentally unstable and violent.

I didn't see it that way at all. If you saw it that way, you'd be saying ALL experimental musicians were violent psychos, not just Frownland. Sorry, Logan. Who was obviously Frownland. Although not in any legally binding way of course.

I didn't get that impression. I liked the way extra characters were added kind of organically, also the way Riggs was identified as basically just big and fat, which played into both the banging on the door and the later discovery of what was left of him.

How did you escape from your padded cell? If the governor finds out I'll lose me job! :yikes:

Sunshine is cool and entertaining and also had a moment that I felt myself creep out on the inside

Nothing Under the Sun tried too hard to be profane and I'm not super into it

Hourglass had me wanting to read more the most

The Last Captain is a story too

Oriphiel 07-08-2017 07:53 PM

I'm kinda surprised by the feedback Nothing Under The Sun has gotten. Everyone seems to think that I had something in mind when I wrote it (like I was trying to be as profane as possible, or trying to take a dig at experimental music, or trying to offer an explanation at the end, or that Logan was based off of Frownland ).

I actually based Logan more off of Chula, and a conversation that I had with him a long time ago in Plug. The dialogue was simply written the way that I heard the characters talking in my head, most of them frustrated musicians who have no need to stand on ceremony. And the ending was based off of the feeling that every prospective pioneer eventually feels, the chill and the horror in their heart when they reach the peak of a mountain and find a flag already planted there. The ending isn't supposed to be an explanation. It's meant to be a joke. Because when you eventually find yourself in that situation, laughing is all that you can do to keep from letting yourself fall from the mountain.

Oriphiel 07-08-2017 08:24 PM

And right now, I bet Chula's wracking his mind like "Oh god, what did I say to Ori?!"
