Their use isn't nearly as ubiquitous in Germany (probably Europe in general) as it is in the US.

I didn't know you were German.

Sieg Heil!

Sounds nice. Not even debit cards?

I don't know about Germany but here we use the c/c a whole hell of a lot. Even debit cards, given out by the banks, have now the VISA logo and are accepted as credit cards, the only differences being you don't get credit (duh) so can only use what's in your bank account and, of course, you get no bills. It's become almost alien to me now to fish out money from my pocket rather than pop in the credit card or swipe it at the touch panel, in fact, if I find a shop that doesn't take credit cards I'm like

Same. It hasn't helped my account balance any though.

It actually makes it worse, tbh. When you know how much you have in your pocket, as in, when you had to take it out of the bank, you tend not to overspend, whereas with a c/c, even if I have enough in the account I'm still thinking "Man I hope this doesn't reject!" I'll do a quick calc in my head as to how much money should be there, but I don't check my bank a/c half as often as I should, which has in fact resulted in my being the victim of c/c fraud on three separate but non-consecutive occasions.

Thankfully with a debit card I just get declined and have to face thirty seconds of silent judgement while I'm like, "I should have more on there! I don't even know what happened!"

The worst is when they ask you "do you want to try another card?" NO I ****ING DON'T! You know full well this decline means I have not enough money in my account, and do I look like the sort of person who would have money stashed away in another one? **** you: you just want me to be more embarrassed than I already am!

And then, the walk of shame to put back that which you can not now afford...
:(

The handful of times I've had a card declined it was because my bank had cancelled it due to some kind of suspicious activity with that card number.

Janszoon 10-14-2017 11:50 AM

Anyway, I just put in my donation. Hope it helps! :)

As for me we have been alerted the mandatory evacuation on our house has been reduced to advisory, so we are setting up air purifiers to run through the night and we hope to be home tomorrow. <3

Edit: PayPal should be an option now, let me know if it's not.

Trollheart 10-14-2017 01:43 PM

She sure was one groovy chick! :)
Glad that things seem to be finally looking to get better for ya; keep us updated.

Yeah there are a lot of farms lost, most of which supply our local dispensaries (RIP all those new baby strains). The wine industry was also heavily affected, and the surviving vineyards are now tainted by the ash and will be for years.

Nah, you're welcome. No repayment necessary. Your heart's in the right place (which is lucky, as you're young, and if it wasn't that could be a serious medical condition!) :D

Reminds me of a Joe Budden lyric.

Quote:

You were stronger than I pictured you, much stronger than me
And almost just as strong as John
And John, oh, that's just a friend of my moms
With tubes coming out his nose, but **** I never knew why
But he was born with his heart on the right side of his chest
No, for real, his heart's in the right side of his chest (Word)
Doctors confused, ain’t much that they can do
But impute and say it ain't on the right side of his chest

We can move it to a different thread, I'm genuinely curious.

Yes! The one on the left, little Moonflower. My aunt Aphrodite has the wild red hair. :)
