I don't do redneck things though. The only people who ever see my gas station Steel Reserve purchases and tell me how they used to drink that 211 all the time are black people.

did you get it quoted up at a dealership? they’re more than likely ripping your ass off initially ofc. but take your quote and go around, everyone will beat the person before you until they aren’t making any money, providing it’s a fairly big job.

i’ve seen my dealership lose money just take a job from another spot.

Try this site: https://repairpal.com/estimator?checking_cookies=true

also, try to find the mechanics manual that outlines the amount of labor hours your job requires and then multiply that amount by what the place charges per hour + parts. That should always give a decent ballpark.

also know that if you don’t fight you’re getting screwed regardless. one spot might charge half as much in labor time, but that means they’re going to go twice as heavy on the parts cost.

honestly the best way to saving money is being an intolerable yet persistent ******* to deal with.

DwnWthVwls 05-26-2018 07:13 AM

It's OH, isn't that a given?

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 05-26-2018 07:16 AM

depends on how much his online persona reflects him irl

i would bet chula is only half as pervy and elph is only half as gay

It's hard to imagine them any other way.

That site did match their estimate and then I did a previous repair and tried different repairs on different years makes and models and the numbers came back good.

QWERTY- yeah it’s at a different shop than I usually use. I’m gonna have it towed over to the shop I like. I know it’s naive to trust an auto shop but at this place I’ve hung out in the garage and met all the mechanics. I’ve kind of taken another approach- I actually think with these old country ****s you’re better off not dickering them to death or being too combative. But like you said I keep track of what they do and the labor and the parts and the time but I try not to come off like a dick because it goes both ways. They’ll do a half ass job if they hate you and if they think you’re alright they might replace an old belt or tighten some **** down for you while they’re at it.

Anyway, I’m afraid I’m going to have to ****ing sell my car. It’s paid for and still worth more than this repair.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 05-26-2018 08:53 AM

not a bad call. regulars here usually get employees going out of their way to please them so if the guys know you i would think they would wanna treat you well.

hope the bill isn’t too steep, there’s nothing worse than that feeling of having to accept it’s time to get a car payment or start walking your ass everywhere.
