I've seen it happen, came to terms with my role in it so now I'm no longer giving creepy ****s that inch.

You don't think there's a worthwhile difference?

And what do you mean by that last part? Your role in what?

Lucem why do you support pedophilia?

he was being extra af but in general I find conversing with 14 year olds online to be a questionable behavior. I think they should find other retarded 14 year olds to fraternize with, cause I don't have **** to say to them.

It's funny/creepy when I think back to when I was a teenager with AOL and **** and how willing adults were to talk to me. How the **** is it appropriate online when it would be weird af irl?

Trollheart 01-23-2023 08:31 PM

Well duh, because they're people too, and maybe they want to talk to older folks, and as long as you keep it to music recs and maybe movies or TV or whatever, I reckon that's fine. I thought Eleanor was great; for a 14 (now 15)-year old you'd never have known she was so young, the way she spoke. It was only OH who started making it all "daddys little girl" and then it got creepy. You shouldn't be afraid/unwilling to talk to someone just because they're forty years younger than you, or whatever. You're the adult (supposed to be anyway) and should know what's acceptable and what isn't.

The Batlord 01-23-2023 08:51 PM

Trollheart 01-23-2023 08:55 PM

Damn it! I wanted to get in there before you! Grrrrr!

I didn't see what was so ****ing great about her. Just a bunch of adults clamoring to groom a child into liking the fall or whatever. Not quite as bad as sexual grooming I suppose, but still weird.

Trollheart would probably say that's nearly as bad.

Seriously man, can you not get away from the grooming ****? Not every interaction between an older person and a younger has to be seen as grooming. All most of us wanted to do was open a young mind to the music we loved, and hope she loved it too. There's nothing wrong with that.

Are you seriously telling me that if a child came up to you you would walk away? Is it that you hate children, or are you so terrified of someone thinking the wrong thing that you won't take the risk? Don't you think children should be able to approach adults and vice versa without there being an immediate suspicion of sexually inappropriate motives? You wouldn't like to share your experience of music, politics, literature, whatever, with a younger person in the hope of enhancing their life a little? You'd be too scared, or just wouldn't care?

Hanging offence, that.

Let's not forget, Eleanor made a thread asking for help. It's not like one of us cornered her and started throwing unsolicited advice her way. What should we have done? Ignored her? Told her she was too young and we couldn't speak to her? For ****'s sake.

like if there is a reason for us to be interacting like maybe I'm friends with the parent or its a relative or something that's one thing... but I can't think of any irl scenarios where I'm just shooting the **** with random ****ing 14 year olds.. can you? :shycouch:

all introduction threads should be ignored. Especially those made by children.

Guybrush 01-24-2023 01:55 AM

Okay, so this thread took a really weird turn.

I'm sure collectively finding out what's acceptable behaviour when communicating with 14 year olds is riveting, but that's an age group we're not targetting or have any members from and it seems a little off-topic. Perhaps a moderator could move/split that discussion to its own thread?

I'd rather talk about how we have a neat little film club going.

Trollheart 01-24-2023 06:13 AM

Don't worry. After his last comment I'm not discussing it with him any more. There's no point. He's either trolling me or he believes what he says. Either way, I've better things to do than justify what I and a lot of others - probably most others - see as perfectly normal and acceptable behaviour.

Comus 01-24-2023 07:30 AM

As an honorary brit I find discussions about who is or isn't a nonce to be very entertaining, but maybe quite offtopic here.

The Batlord 01-24-2023 09:02 AM

Apparently they don't want you being a big meanie on the new forum. I think I'm giving it a pass y'all.

You're lucky enough to get to promote your **** on enemy territory, and now you have the balls to appeal to MB mods to get your commercial for your competing forum back on topic??? This place really is finished if they're putting up with this ****!

Between the Brasseye paedogeddon special and Operation Yewtree, Brits are the greatest at noncery. I literally can't wait for the Coogan Jimmy Savile show to drop

Guybrush 02-18-2023 04:53 AM

Here's a quick and possibly unwarranted update.

We got a lot of good discussions going, most of them related to music.

We've sorted out some kinks and things seem to be running smoothly. Next on our admin to-do list is finding more moderators, although we call them curators and the basic task is managing a forum and promoting activity there rather than punishing wrongdoers.

Come on over and take a gander if you're curious :)

rubber soul 02-18-2023 06:28 AM

Also, for you writers out there. We have a writing contest going on in March, so if you want to enter, join up. :)

Trollheart 02-18-2023 11:04 AM

And if you don't, then sod off. :)

Guybrush 03-09-2023 01:28 AM

Quick update for our community who might find the site somewhat unresponsive at the moment.

I've been in contact with our host's support and they inform that they're currently having some server issue. It shouldn't be long before we resume normal operations.

Janszoon 03-09-2023 08:17 AM

It’s been loading fine for me.

Guybrush 03-09-2023 08:31 AM

^Now I miss the like post button

It was sloggish for about an hour or two, I think (at least from here). It fortunately seems like a relatively brief and rare occurrence.

Haha, I keep seeing posts on here that I instinctively want to hit the like button on.

I really like that feature, by the way. It's great for when you don't have much to add conversationally but still want to give someone some positive energy.

Guybrush 03-20-2023 07:01 PM

Indeed :)

Thought I'd give this a bump with the quick update that we've made a forum for controversial topics with the current intention that it'll also be someplace less moderated.

We call it The Abyss and the forum's invisible until you opt-in.

Impeccable timing!

Controversy you say? Alright, alright, I'm sold.

Trollheart 03-21-2023 07:09 AM

The only caveat is that any member (of SCD) who chooses NOT to opt-in is automatically off-limits for discussion there. In other words, if Frown were over there and didn't want to opt-in, then nobody could talk about him there, at least in a significant way. Outside of the Abyss, that's cool, but if you're not a member of the club, so to speak, it would be unfair for those who are, to discuss you, when you're not there to defend yourself (since the sub forum bends light around itself by refracting tachyons - they're ions that dress provocatively and have no sense of style - or, as you Earth people say, is invisible).

WWWP 03-21-2023 07:22 PM

That sounds a little insecure but ok

Trollheart 03-21-2023 08:45 PM

It was requested. If you mean the caveat. Some people knew they might have been talked about, were not interested in being in the Abyss, but didn't want to think they might be getting dis(s)cussed out of their view. Seems fair to me.

Guybrush 10-04-2023 08:00 AM

It's been months and activity here seems slower than ever, so thought I'd give this a bump as a reach out to those who are still here, but feel a little lonely.

Things are going well over at SCD and you're welcome to join us there <3 <3

Guybrush 11-04-2023 04:48 AM

How are things going on MB?

Thought I'd give this yet another bump. If you feel like this place is a bit slow, consider joining us on Something Completely Different.

Guybrush 06-11-2024 04:54 PM

So it's already more than a year since last bump? Time flies!

Anyways, a bunch of us are over at a new forum. Come check it out.

Perhaps the reason we are not as active as we once were is because everyone flocked to this instead.

Some activity will have moved there for sure. I have basically stopped using this site, but then I also won't accept Admin's negligence with mb.

BassoonPlatoon 02-27-2025 04:27 PM

Well I guess I will start posting there soon.
