I don't think we'd have the same reading taste, you and I. Last piece of good fiction I read was "Sin in the Second City" but it was historical non-fiction and thats about as close as I get to fiction.

Ever since I read knockemstiff, I've been shell shocked and won't go back.

I've read both versions, and 2 other books by Matthews. If we debate that, the city will have to be evacuated.

I read it back in... late 2005 going into 2006 so I'm not sure which edition I read. It was the required Winter Break reading for my AP Gov't class and probably the most worth wild thing I read that entire year. I'm pretty sure you and I see fairly eye to eye politically wise so I doubt there will be much to debate, but at least it could make for a fun discussion. I will go looking for it tomorrow at my school's library.

Ha, well I've been called "politically willey" (college friend, don't ask) so we'll see. The think about the Matthews book is, no single piece of literature has shaped my positioning on things quite like that. I'd be willing to gamble some good money on it giving you the guidelines on how to approach everything you'll face in a life time...

Peasant woman's dough, by Salwa Bakr. I'm not sure if it's translated into English, but I'm reading it in Serbian. Salwa Bakr is an Egyptian writer. This book is really good.

Taken Hostage

second book for Global Politics, about the Iranian Hostage Crisis and events leading up to it, like the US's involvement in overthrowing/enstating Iranian government (including its' CIA oprerations in the area) and how Jimmy Carter and other Presidents fared against it. I'm glad to say it is MUCH easier to read than Dark Continent, but both books are equally as eye opening and interesting.
