Arthur C. Clarke, Rendezvous With Rama. A true science fiction classic from one of the veritable kings of the hard scifi genre. It involves humanity's first contact with alien life, in the form of a planet-sized, hollow cylinder hurtling through space into the sun. I just started, but it looks great so far (from Clarke, how could you expect less?).

Also, is it me, or does almost every person in this thread love fantasy? That's almost all I ever see in here.

Most people into metal on this forum are into fantasy novels, it goes with the terrain, but it does seem that lovers of other types of music are into fantasy as well.

I am reading this non fiction book about a woman who researches human trafficking, specifically women being sold to be sex slaves. It's fantastic, eye opening and sad at the same time.

Started Anne Franks diary since I finished GOT. Loving it so far, it's just really beginning to get in to it now. I've wanted to read this book for years but never got around to it.

Ironically, I only really got into metal AFTER I stopped reading most fantasy.

Ahhh but the fantasy had seeped into the subconscious part of your brain and made you more receptive to metal.

Actually, that's probably halfway true. I got into metal through Black Sabbath, Dio, Iron Maiden and the like. I'm lucky I didn't turn into a power metal fanboy!

If you like Iron Maiden and Dio, then you're a power metal fanboy in waiting. It's just a matter of time.

Nah, I kinda got over them. They're still good, but I discovered jazz and haven't looked back. Plus, there's just so much more interesting stuff going on in extreme metal, power metal bores the hell out of me.
