^ I've heard a lot of people talk about that book, but never that it was the greatest ever. I'm not doubting that many people do, just that I think it's one of those that split opinion - even if the reader has a certain respect or admiration for it.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...rstEdition.jpg This, however, was recommended very highly. I've been hearing lots about it for the past few years but it was Jordan Peterson placing it as his #1 recommend book (with regards to his intellectual development) that finally pushed me to start listening to it. I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far. But I'm not far enough into it to give any kind of verdict. |

The Thick Of It: The Missing DoSAC Files Basically an addendum to the show, reiterating some of the points and adding new ones. I especially enjoyed Malcolm Tucker's bit about tips for incoming Ministers, especially the bit about fucking and how gay fucking wasn't weird fucking, unless you don't happen to be gay in which case it is weird fucking. |
Just ordered like-new hardcover copies of Joseph Campbell's A Hero with a Thousand Faces and The Power of Myth for pennies on Amazon. The incredible buyer's market of used books online never ceases to amaze me.
http://i.imgur.com/hxkzWy5l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/SqTqZJul.jpg It's a crime that I've gone this long without reading those two books. After reading these I plan to order The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark by Carl Sagan. http://www.waivingentropy.com/wp-con...book-cover.jpg And starting today I'm diving into the original Cosmos series which for some insane reason I've never sat down and digested. No time like the present! |
first book of 2017 complete:
http://media.npr.org/assets/bakertay...e-s400-c85.jpg love this author because he provides an easy read that will still stab you in the heart with it's brutal honesty now to try (for the second time) to tackle this beast: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...a/It_cover.jpg |
