If you haven't started this already, I would highly advise you take a few pieces of paper and jot down characters and what their relations are with one and other. It's not so much a problem in A Clash of Kings but by the end of A Storm of Swords you're introduced to so many new characters and names of places that are absent from the 4th book but all brought back in the 5th with no re-explanation.
