i could not agree with nonsubmissivewife any more .....Ender's Game is by far one of my all time favorite books....although i'm not a huge fan of the rest of the series i highly suggest reading Ender's Shadow....as it is simply a retelling of the same story from Bean's perspective

Right now, I'm in the middle of reading this:

Perhaps I lack the enlightenment, or the ability to think abstractly enough to appreciate this book, but it's not doing a damn thing for me. I've been vacillating between boredom and mild disgust through the first 100 pages, though I've been assured that once I've finished it, and read the author's notes and supplemental materials at the end that I will have a new appreciation for it. It's supposed to be a classic and a literary masterpiece and all that but yeah...no.
i think i would call Naked Lunch a "literary masterpiece" but not because of the content or even the writer....but rather because of how it was written....really this book is as much a work of Brion Gysin as it is Bill Burroughs....but i would agree that Burroughs later experiments with "cut and paste" came off much more fluid....specifically in Nova Express

i decided a few days ago that i was felling a little depressed with my present life situation and it's repetition and needed to reacquaint myself with an old dear friend.....Robert Anton Wilson

i just started the seconded book and i'm already beginning to see patterns of 5 and i'm really seeing the fnords everywhere

I still really need to get around to Ender's Game. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

You really need to read that yesterday. I read it the first time as a kid and it blew my mind. It's great in general but if you're a kid it's the sci fi book.

Anybody doing any Bloomsday related activities? The Rosenbach Museum in Philadelphia (which also holds the original handwritten manuscripts of Ulysses) conducts readings alongside all the Irish pubs, which basically involves a delightful day of booze, food and Joycean puns. Not to be missed!

It also seems like a good opportunity to attempt a tour de force of Ulysses, my previous one taking 4 days to finish (without skipping a line), and one which I hope to topple this time around.

All the good things everyone said about Ender's Game are true. I ****ing loved it to pieces, bought Ender's Shadow immediately upon finishing it.
