What's The Latest Film You Have Seen?

It's a documentary about James Nachtwey, a photographer who takes pictures of wars and poverty. He's been to every war in the last 20 years or something like that. I thought it was really interesting, and it was done in a nice way that kind of left room for us to see everything that he did. There were interviews, but they were short and/or in the background while we saw footage of him taking pictures or just flashes of photos he's taken. The movie also seemed to be about the subjects he was photographing as much as it was about him, but I liked that. Some of the scenes were really horrific and tragic, but it was presented in such a way as not to overwhelm.

Yeah seriously. One nice thing about Nachtwey though was that he really came off as a genuine guy. That is, I got the feeling he was taking photographs to protest what was happening and try to help, not to exploit it as some photographers would. So while it was really bleak and awful, I still felt that he cared. And that made it seem better in a way.

hmmm....this maybe proof that i really don't like myself and never really want to be happy....there is political meaning and some sort of social commentary here but the overlying theme of the film is shocking vile acts that really push the boundaries of anything i have seen before...i had thought i'd seen the worst but i think this one takes it...i think there was a message there and that made it interesting, and the film making itself is very pretty....but the graphic stuff in this movie drowns all sense of well being and brutally beats any glimpse of social commentary into submission....

Memento

As far as Chrictopher Nolan's films, i will say that i liked this more than Inception. both movies are great, hell, even amazing, but i felt more of a connection with Guy Pearce's character than DiCaprio's. That and I liked the twists and turns this sent you on. great movie, really glad I saw it.

Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky

This falls into the arena of so bad it's good. It starts off slow and at some points drags it's feet, but the amount of insane gore and wtf moments totally make up for it. Seeing a man getting his head clapped to mush and a dog get kicked in half for no reason is just terribly fantastic. The english dubbing is also deliciously bad and some of the lines are just great. This was alot of fun to watch and still is after watching it 3 times. If you don't feel like having to scour the internet for this, though, you can find the whole thing on Youtube of all places.

Devil

Bad that it's good, but to a much lesser extent. really it's just mediocre all over with it's only saving grace being how unintentionally funny it is. if you want a scary movie, don't bother with this. If you have 90 minutes to kill, only need to pay $5 a ticket (like i did

), and enjoy laughing at stupid movies, then hell, give this a shot.

A pretty twisted and ****ed-up Swedish vampire film. It's brilliantly shot as the static camera-work makes the violent scenes very gritty and realistic and also gives the whole film a more depressing tone, compared to the glossed-up Hollywood stuff. Even if you take away the whole vampire thing you're left with a sweet love story between two lonely kids. Marvelous film.

DiCaprio is an excellent actor, imo. Go watch: "The Basketball Diaries, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Departed", or, "Blood Diamond", to gain a little perspective and to have something other than "Titanic" to reference when you create an analysis. (These are just a few examples of his work, btw)

So Hollywood finally remade this. The German original from 2001 is simply superb, I wonder how this compares? I can hazard a guess but you never know!
