Essential film that really revolutionized how films portray historical events. Paul Greengrass must have seen this movie a thousand times because it reminded me of Bloody Sunday. The documentary style filming was great and I liked how the film was shown from both sides with minimal bias. Great film.

I think this was the last film where Kubrick collaborated with a cinematographer. It showed. I liked the film but I could really tell that Kubrick was limited in what he wanted to do with the shots. The ending was great.

Very important film to watch. I will say that it was like taking a sleeping pill at times but it was because of the way the film progressed rather than because it was boring. A very slow burn that had hilarious dialogue at times and a great ending.

I wasn't too impressed with this one but there were a few scenes that were interesting. I think this is the first film I've seen Mickey Rourke in before he looked like a monkey. He became a much better actor later on.

My least favorite Coen brothers film besides Lady Killers. I do however believe this film will grow on me. I need to watch it again.

I was very surprised by this one. My girlfriend wanted to see it really bad and I thought it was going to be horrible but I knew it had gotten good reviews. It was very funny. I laughed a lot and I don't usually like comedies. It wasn't as good as say Superbad or Step Brothers but it's definitely the funniest movie this year.

This was a huge bag of meh. Some scenes were okay and entertaining but overall it wasn't very good. The ending was interesting though.

One of the better documentaries I've seen recently. Through footage shot by the reporters themselves as it was happening, the whole film tells of what really goes on in military run Burma. It was an eye opening look into a country we really can't look at.

Average political drama. I expected more out of Watts and Penn after seeing them in 21 Grams. Just very forgettable.

I will kindly disagree with your assessment of Mickey Rourke. He made BARFLY the same year Angelheart came out. So I would say he became a better actor the same year. Barfly is one of my favorite movies. Really enjoy your reviews and your eclectic choice of movies.

I didn't mind Angel Heart, but the book it was based on, Falling Angel, was much better.

The City of Lost Children

I usually make a habit of watching this at least once a year, and I enjoy as much as I did when I first viewed it. Such an imaginative film that is for whatever reason awarded an R rating in the US despite the fact it could practically be a family film, or at worst a PG-13 film. I like how every character feels important, even the little bit characters, and the dynamics between the girl Miette and the man-child Ron Perlman was really well done despite the fact that Ron Perlman doesn't speak French. Completely unique film that really needs to be watched by anyone who enjoys the work of Terry Gilliam or the movie Dark City.

I've been wanting to watch this movie for a really long time. Never got around to it though. I want it to be on netflix instant cause I don't know where else I'll find it.

Kind of. It's a dark, slightly twisted fantasy/ fairy tale that still manages to be light-hearted and kind of heart warming when people are being stabbed in the eyes or forced to watch themselves get strangled to death.

I think City of Lost Children is mostly interesting for being somewhat unique rather than an awesome film in every way. I feel like much like Dark City, Labyrinth, Willow or even Hellboy, it is flawed, but fun and memorable nonetheless and so worth checking out.
