I think last movies my family bought were Black Swan and Tangled. I know, they're both so alike.

Just watched Ken Russel's 'The Devils' uncut. Gorgeous film. I went in it only wanting an extremely blasphemous grindhouse time film with light touches of surrealism. What I got was an extremely intelligent well written social commentary on the politics of the Catholic religion, separation of church and state, and sexual repression with heavy touches of surrealism(even if the story itself was biographical).

I consider myself lucky enough to have caught a very rare TV airing of this film many years back as it's nigh on impossible to buy anywhere and despite it's imagery I too found it a fascinating watch and much more intelligent than I was lead to believe.

I have been waiting diligently for an uncut DVD release of this ever since DVD appeared. Russel's Lair Of The White Worm has never been released over here either and although it is schlocky B Horror. It is CLASSY schlocky B Horror!

Watched a little of it, and it is certainly weird, but overly cheesy at points. I might rewatch it again tomorrow.

on that note, I'm thinking of going on a movie binge tomorrow. Any suggestions? Right now I'm thinking:

Midnight Express
Inland Empire
The Tiger of Eschnapur
Layer of the White Worm

I'm looking for anything that's traditional noir, or surreal at the moment.

Amazon.com: Ken Burns: The Civil War - Commemorative Edition: David McCullough, Sam Waterson, Jason Robards, Morgan Freeman, Arthur Miller, George Plimpton, Garrison Keillor, Horton Foote, George Black, Philip Bosco, Ken Burns: Movies & TV

Big Ken Burns fan and it was slashed to half price. Can't beat it for fifty bucks. Plus i can add to my existing collection of his jazz series and Baseball series.

The early OOP DVD release with the commentary. Well chuffed.

Made for a mere £20,000. Still a decent movie if it's your bag.

Judging by the last time this thread saw any action, fine time to be saying so, but lovefilm rentals count don't they? If they do...

The Magnificent Ambersons
Zelig
Dead and Breakfast
The Last Supper
Feast
Botched
Behind the Mask: the Rise Of Leslie Vernon
Harold and Maude
Baghead
Evil Rising

^ Could be good, could be dire, but I've got enough free time on my hands for the next fortnight or so to not mind finding out either way.
