Doctor Who

New series starts tomorrow and yes i'm excited. And f*ck you all , i'm allowed one guilty pleasure :o:

Anyway here's a brief preview of what to expect from this year's series .....

1. PARTNERS IN CRIME

Modern day London , and a brand new diet pill is being tested by the mysterious Adipose Industries,
Slogan: The fat just walks away!
But soon there are unexplained deaths , strange creatures in the shadows , and the Doctor starts investigating, little knowing an old friend is on the trail.

2. THE FIRES OF POMPEII

Pompeii 79AD And it's volcano day! But there's far more than Versuvius to worry about. Psychic powers are running rampant , a secret sisterhood conceals a horrifying priestess , and beneath the ground vast creatues are stirring. This is where Donna truly comes into her own , challenging the Time Lord like no-one ever has before with one vital question: If he knows everyone is going to die why can't he save them?
For once there is no easy answer for the Doctor as the Cult of Vulcan prepares to forge a new empire on Earth.

3. PLANET OF THE OOD

Donna's first visit to an alien planet , and it's freezing! But on the icescapes of a distant planet the greatest danger might be from the human race itself. When the Doctor meets the Ood again he's determined to find out the truth behind their servility. But when an Ood's eyes turn red you know you're in trouble , and the red eye is spreading.

4. THE SONTARAN STRATAGEM
5. THE POISON SKY

Martha Jones returns , now back home again in her new job as medical officer for UNIT , a worldwide army dedicated to fighting alien menaces. But the menace is bigger than ever ,as the threat of ATMOS spreads across the planet. Sounds like she needs her old friend the Doctor. But he's about to meet an old enemy as the Sontarans lie in wait- The warlike potato faced monsters not seen on screen since 1985 , They're back , they're brutal and they're out for revenge.

6. THE DOCTOR'S DAUGHTER

Yes thats the title , and it does exactly what it says it does, I'm saying no more. Watch David Tennant take the Doctor into new territory with his most spellbinding performance yet.
His daughter , Jenny is played by Georgia Moffat the real life daughter of 5th Doctor Peter Davison.

7. THE UNICORN AND THE WASP

In 1926 Agatha Christie mysteriously disappeared , only to be found 10 days later with no memory of what happened. Was it a nervous breakdown? A cry for help? or was it a giant wasp ?
It's a classic murder mystery with a country house , vintage cars , a flapper , a vicar , a butler , a body in the library , tea on the lawn and horrible deaths. And see if you can spot how many Agatha Christie novels are hidden in the dialogue.

8. SILENCE IN THE LIBRARY
9. RIVER'S RUN

Just to warn you , Steven Moffat created the 'are you my mummy?' Empty Child , Madame Du Pompadour's Clockwork Robots and last years weeping angels ("Don't Blink") But I think he was just warming up , getting ready for this years adventure. Now we've got 2 episodes of terror in an abandoned library , moving shadows , the gruesome Nodes ,and the horrifying Data Ghost , possibly the most spine chilling scene I have ever seen. Don't blink indeed , don't miss a second.

10. MIDNIGHT

The planet Midnight is a leisure world! Golden spa's , diamond landscapes , anti gravity resturaunts... what could possibly go wrong? But for once the Doctor is left powerless and terrified as the knocking on the wall begins...

11. TURN LEFT

The strands of Donna's story begin to draw to a terrifying climax as she finds her life , her family , her entire world being devastated. Only one person can help her. But this time it's not the Doctor , it's someone from a parallel universe , a woman thought to be lost forever....

12. --
13. JOURNEY'S END

It's the big finale and the title of episode 12 is being kept secret as it gives too much away, But the threat is on a truly epic scale as an ancient enemy is resurrected and the whole universe is thrown into danger.
Who are the Children Of Time? What is the secret of the Vault? And surely this time not everybody can get out alive.....?

According to my son they promised the scariest series ever.
He's really excited about this and to be honest, I'm looking forward to seeing it too. :o:
He insists I sit with him through the programmes. He gets scared.

His favourite episode is The Empty Child...the one with the boy in the gas mask.
I took him to see the Dr Who exhibition last year...I'll try and dig the pics out later...here's one that's on the pc already; Attachment 2721 < click

I think he's turned into his resident Junoir school Dr. Who expert!

I didn't know it was a guilty pleasure, everyone seems to like it. I don't though, i always seem to lose interest watching it.

It is a guilty pleasure when you own around 300 novels & every single surviving episode since 1963 :o:

And RT I would have loved to have seen a Dr Who exhibition at that age ,
have a talking Dalek though :D
I did finally get to a couple of conventions in the 90s and met Jon Pertwee a few months before he died.

right-track 04-05-2008 05:59 AM

Jon Pertwee was my favourite Dr Who as a kid, closely followed by Tom Baker.
The latest new series are far better than the originals (from my point of view), in that they really made Dr Who popular more than ever before.

Who's your favourite Urban?

Urban Hat€monger ? 04-05-2008 06:14 AM

My favourite era would probably be the late 70s with Tom Baker as the Doctor and also because Douglas Adams was writing it at the time.
I like the Jon Pertwee era a lot too mainly because the Brigadier was my favourite character (I met him too :D )
I really like Patrick Troughton's version of the Doctor but most of his stories have been lost , if i'd seen more it would probably be him.
And William Hartnell's Doctor works really well in the novels.
And Peter Davison was the first doctor I remember watching

So to answer your question , I have no idea :)
