Thoughtful videos/articles

Hi there, Last month I stumbled across a very interesting, yet also disturbing video on youtube called "Story of Stuff, How things work"

it explains how we as producers and consumers of products harm the world without really seeing everything in the whole perspective.
I don't know whether the figures are accurate really, but it's vivid and it kind of shocked me, so I wanted to share it with you guys:

what do you think? maybe it is exaggerating, but I found it to be conclusive. damn!

So, I thought let's make this a topic where everyone could share articles and videos about serious topics that you want to make us aware of, that are educational.
Simply things, that encourage thinking and inspire.

(if a mod wants to merge this into a suiting topic, go ahead. I couldn't find any..)

I don't think it is exaggerating at all. I think it is comprehensive, and perhaps overwhelming, but true. Well-done video. I would just like to get a hold of the references that support the claims she makes throughout the video. Perhaps the website listed at end of video has references; I'll check it out.
Anyway, thanks for sharing this. As for another contribution to this thread, here's a link to an article out of Yale University that claims that, at a time of world crisis when EU countries need to be united, the EU is actually more disunifed than ever:
