I just discovered this, and thought I would share. I'm not a big comic geek or anything, but I grew up reading Uncle Scrooge, Garfield, Calvin & Hobbes, and Mad Magazine, and have fond memories of long winter days spent reading them.

Today I discovered that these are all available electronically. They are essentially scans that have been archived into a special format called CBR (Comic-RAR). There are lots of readers out there, but the best I've found is Comic Rack.

Comics can be a bit big, that's the only downside. A full collection of Garfiled, for example, is 300mb, and a full collection of Calvin & Hobbes in high resolution is several gigabytes. But anyone interested in re-visiting some old childhood fun might want to check it out

Done it before,you kinda have to considering how overpriced they are.

I'm a cdisplay fan personally. I love the fact that it has no on screen interface.

^ O, I might try that, that's the biggest downside to using Windows Photo Gallery.

yeah i abandoned comic rack. i played with it at work for 2 mins and it seemed ok, but once i got home and spent some time with it, the truth was revealed.

i'm on cdisplay now. very fast, very simple. depressingly lacking in custom hotkey support, but such is life.

it's great reading all these old Uncle Scrooge comics again! i just grabbed a full set of dilbert too, but it had crap watermarks on it so i'm having to run it all through photoshop to crop things down and clean them up...

I actually tried cdisplay just now and found it equally terrible/confusing. Maybe I'm stupid and don't know how to use either, or I'm just used to the utter simplicity of the Windows Photo Gallery, but all I need and want to see is the next and previous page buttons and zoom, which don't seem to exist here, incredibly. I think I'll stick to what I know...sheesh...:/

It's easier to use the keys to progress to the next pages. just right click and look at the options. once you have them memorized it's second nature.

yeah cdisplay is kind of old school. but i like its dual page display though, it's working well.

ooh my 4.77gb torrent of high-res calvin and hobbes scans just finished. time to get reading!

The zoom function is a little confusing. I always click configure than set height and set it to 1140. That's usually a great view for browsing the majority of comics...single or double page.
