Who's going to see Avatar?

The trailers have been absolutely terrible, the hype seems to firmly remain within the blogosphere and according to anonymous first reports the 3D effects are apparently vomit-enducing. It is also, if you haven't already heard, THE MOST EXPENSIVE FILM EVER MADE. I am under the impression that it will flop dramatically and become one of the greatest failures in box office history, possibly sending James Cameron into exile. Possibly. However, I'll still be going to see it out of curiousity.

Whose actually going to see it then on the MB board then?

I'm going to go see it but only for Sam Worthington, who is awesome. I'm feeling a bit 'meh' about the movie, too, to be honest. I think everybody is.

I'm going to see it eventually. Looks good and it's james cameron ffs. Let's face it, Aliens, Terminator 2, Rambo: First Blood Part II, the guy knows how to entertain.

I think you mean "whose" awesome.

Anyhow, I'm ambivalent. On the one hand it's a blockbuster, special effects extravaganza and we don't really get too many of those so it's definitely an incentive to go see it at the theater. On the other hand, it looks like an incredibly stupid video game adaptation. So, I'll probably go see it but expect the worst.

Yeah, I think it looks fairly unappealing to the eye. Not a fan of such a huge use of CGI. Dunno, mate is keen as hell on it, might see it, might not. Don't think it will be much chop unfortunately.

I'm guessing you love him just because he's an Aussie, yes? Because from what I've seen of him he's fairly average and the man can barely hold down an accent for 5 minutes which I think gets incredibly distracting. "Hey, wasn't he an American a minute ago? Now he's an Australian? Oh look he's American again."

Holy crap get a voice coach. God knows Avatar had enough money to pay for one for him.

It's funny that so many people are complaining about the hype behind this movie and yet from what I've seen more people are hoping it bombs at the box office than people hoping it'll be successful. It was the same before Titanic came out, which at the time was also the most expensive film ever made.

Where did you hear about the vomit-inducing effects of the 3D experience? I don't even understand how that's possible. All you're doing is viewing something in 3 dimensions rather than 2.

I happen to really like the look of the movie. Cameron is my favourite director and is one of the very few directors that has always had critical and enormous box office success with his movies, save for maybe The Abyss.

It looks like it's going to be alot of fun. Great effects (obviously) and a seeminly decent story line. Looks more sci-fi-ish than it did when the first teaser trailer came out. I'm hoping it'll turn out to be as awesome as the hype is making it out to be.

Actually, whose is possessive pronoun so that is incorrect, it would be who's (a contraction of who is) or who is which is still correct. ;)

I like him because I had the pleasure of meeting him not that long ago and he was a really awesome, down-to-earth guy who was just really friendly and fun.

It's true that his fake American accent is pretty average, but accents don't really bother me these days in a world where we are so culturally hybrid anyway. Plus I think he's done really well for himself considering he was a bricklayer and didn't have any formal training or acting experience until he was about 20.
