For one, none of these guys are technical virtuosos, so why not balance it out with someone who is? Like Steve Vai or Eric Johnson? Why not early rock n roll pioneers like Chuck Berry or Scotty Moore? Why not session guys who remain behind the scenes? Why aren't any metal guys represented? Why not anyone outside of rock music like blues or jazz men? Why not some avant garde guys who do weird and interesting things with the guitar that no one would have ever thought of like Robert Fripp or Glenn Branca?

These guys need to learn a few things if they think only 3 guitarists are enough to tell the complete story of the electric guitar.

They weren't really trying to tell the "complete story of the electric guitar." It was mainly about the 3 different guitarists, how they grew up and became interested in music (and guitar), and what they think of it now. Mainly they were just trying to get 3 different viewpoints on music and guitar especially, and they weren't claiming to tell the "complete story."

Fair enough, I actually want to see this.

This thread is about whether Edge was out of place, but I'm just wondering, who enjoyed it? and what did people think of it?

I enjoyed it, but found myself switching off a little bit when it was about Edge. I don't dislike him or anything, I think some of U2's stuff is half decent, Atchung Baby being their best work. (Although they have produced some awful shite and Bono is extremely irritating. I was really interesting to see and hear about Jack White and Jimmy Page and found it interesting to see why the electric guitar meant so much to them.

I liked it too, although it was a little disappointing for some reason. Maybe I just expected more epicness in a documentary about 2 guitar players I like a lot (plus the edge... meh.)

Worth a watch for sure though.

If the third guitarist was Johnny Marr it would've been even more epic (for me.) they could've found someone a lot better than edge but meh, I found it entertaining enough from start to finish.

I found Jack White to be the most interestin though.

I thought it was interesting at the beginning how nervous White was to meet the other two.

Also, was it just me, or did Jimmy Page seem a little.... dumb.

What will happen? - Probably a fist fight.

I thought that was all for the camera, dramatic effect. Do you really think he was nervous?

And yeah I thought that, he reminded of a typical Essex boy with no brains. I was quite surprised to see what he was like, I'd only ever seen him play music before that.

What do you expect? After 40 or so years of excessive drug and alcohol consumption you probably wouldn't come off sounding like a genius either.

You're right, I think it's just a natural tendency to assume that most talented people are at least smarter than the average person.
