Has there ever been more stupid looking movie??

:soapbox:Really? REALLY!? Have you seen the previews for this? It just looks awful.:soapbox: |
it looks like a twist on the Jaws poster and every other late 70s / early 80s beach based monster movie.
plus considering the amount of attention Snakes on a Plane got... |

Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's a comedy. Plus, it was directed by Joe Dante who did some decent stuff in his day sand it's written by John Sayles who also did a whole bunch of good stuff. So I've always been a little curious about it. Edit: Ah, strangely enough a preview for the remake just came on TV a minute ago. I'm guessing that's what you're talking about. You confused me by using the poster from the original movie. I had no idea they were doing a remake. |
Piranha is an awesome film.
|
I was way young when I saw Piranha. Freaked me out so bad. Then my dad thought he would be funny and told me he was going to put piranhas in my waterbed so they could bite me while I was sleeping. Wouldn't lay on it for about 2 weeks.
Shut up, I was like 6 when I saw it. |
I used to love that movie when I was a kid.
I remember another movie about these bugs that made things catch fire, I'd love to see that one again. Edit: Oh here it is... http://www.impawards.com/1975/posters/bug.jpg |
I'd never seen the original movie, but based on the preview, the new one looks ****in terrible.

But then, no. It was just a bunch of biting fish. Hopefully the piranhas can at least do something new like bore under people's skin and then bite them from the inside out. I'd really like to see a movie in which insects around the world become resistant to pesticides, and so all sorts of people start getting some of these awful jungle infections, such as when little worms end up floating through your eyeballs. I think that would be much more disturbing than watching fish eat people, although the theme of nature getting its revenge by doing to people exactly what many people do to other animals is always one that interests me. I wonder how the Piranha movie makers are going to turn a beach evacuation into a 2 hour movie. It seems like a few people would just need to shout "Shark!" and the beaches would be cleared in about 3 seconds, voila, problem solved! |

Yeah but Sharktopus doesn't even have Lorenzo Lamas to help carry it (and that's not saying much). Take it from someone who actively watches these Sci-fi channel crapfest Saturday night movies.
|
I just watched the trailer for it. Fucking hell, that looks awful

How dare you? ;) That was awesome in a great big pile of crap way. B movies are just that. No pretence. No allusions of grandeur, just stupid entertainment of varying degrees and then every now and again a movie comes through the B files to stake a claim as a bona fide classic (not that this is BTW!) I would much rather watch crap like this than the mindless banality they spend $30 million on every other week that gets released and turns out to be moronic and insipid but cost's 10 times more. It is an odd way to look at movies for some but there is nothing worse than lazy filmmaking and been given a decent budget 80% of directors, actors etc coast it and put no effort in and consequently give us something instantly forgettable. Give a team a tiny budget and with a modicum of intelligence you will get something heartfelt and genuine and maybe even a little innovative too. * Referring to Megashark |
I'm going to be singing that sharktopus song all night.
|
I must see this. The original's probably better though.
