Leslie Nielsen Dead at 84

Surely, you can't be serious?
I am serious -- and don't call me Shirley.

Rest in peace man. You made my adolescence a hilarious time. :(

Here's the story on cnn.com.

simplephysics 11-29-2010 09:06 AM

This is terrible news. :( :( :(

s_k 11-29-2010 09:26 AM

84 is a respectable age, but it's a pity, indeed.
Altough I am more a fan of british humor, Leslie had some hilarious parts :)

The Fascinating Turnip 11-29-2010 10:04 AM

Ruined my day. I don't like everything the man was in, but what Janszoon took the liberty to quote is an example of what made him great.

R.I.P., you shall be missed.

"Nice beaver"

"Thanks, I just had it stuffed"

RIP Leslie Nielsen. Got a text from a friend this morning saying he died. Sad news... the Naked Gun series is one of the most hilarious movie series of all time thanks to Leslie.

Agreed! The first Naked Gun movie is perhaps my favourite comedy of all time. So many memorable jokes :) Sad to see him go, but I'm sure he won't be forgotten in a hurry.

Apart from George Bush and Ronald Reagan, one of the few Americans that made me laugh.
Must be the Canadian in him. ;)

R.I.P.

jackhammer 11-29-2010 05:50 PM

Sad to see him go but he didn't do anything of worth since the Naked Gun movies. Just saying..

Well to be fair he's also been retirement age since the Naked Gun movies.

He was from the Airplane movies wasn't he? His best moments was the Police Squad series for me... and Forbidden Planet.

Just a shame that he was never used for more comedic effect since those movies.

duga 11-29-2010 06:05 PM

I don't care if the only funny thing he ever did was the Naked Gun movies. Those movies were the ****. RIP Leslie Nielsen.

Well he was, just badly. I cut him slack on that though. :)

Heard about this yesterday, how sad. RIP buddy.

Aside from what's already been mentioned, he was also classic in Creepshow :)

RIP man :)

Mayor: Now Drebin, I don't want any trouble like you had on the South Side last year, that's my policy.

Frank: Well, when I see five weirdos, dressed in togas, stabbing a man in the middle of the park in full view of a hundred people, I shoot the bastards, that's *my* policy!

Mayor: That was a Shakespeare-In-The-Park production of 'Julius Caesar,' you moron! You killed five actors! Good ones!

God I think Ferral is trash if he's leading.

Am I evil for asking the person who told me this immediately if he lost his life in a very over the top slapstick way? You know, like David Carradine.

s_k 12-01-2010 07:11 PM

I don't know how well known Louis de Funes overthere, but he during one of his famous rants on a filmset. Classic.
