Terrible Movie Premises

What are some movies that are based on a seemingly terrible premise, the ones that you aren't sure how exactly they got the green light? Whether they actually turn out well or not is irrelevant.

For example, here's how I imagine the pitch for Yes Man to have gone:

"Alright, so there's this guy and this guy says no to absolutely everything. Then one day this other guy puts a spell on him to say, get ready for this... YES to everything! What do you think?"

"Somebody get me Jim Carrey on the phone!"

I actually really enjoyed Yes Man. Sue me.

EDIT: If we're talking bad premises... ahem - Avatar anyone?

I don't think Avatar has a bad premise per se, it's just totally safe and unoriginal. I mean, Pocahontas in space...oh wait

A River Runs Through It.

This is my wife's all-time favorite movie. She forces me to watch it all the time. It has absolutely no premise. Two brother argue, then one dies, and the other goes fishing. No antagonists or protagonists, no plot build-up or climax. And it's not even a biography or true story that they had to stick to, they wrote it that way. What a turd.

It's even worse. Avatar isn't even the first CG Pocahontas in space:

Haha I like Yes Man too. It just sounds like a terrible premise.

And Avatar was apparently a rip-off of Fern Gully as well. Haven't seen it though.

Doomsday. Scotland suffers a plague that kills most of the population and leaves the others as evil cannibal punks or medieval knights. I'm sorry that's actually the best idea for a movie I've ever heard. Sorry.

It was also kind of a rip-off of the book The Word for World is Forest, which predates Avatar by almost 40 years.

Speaking of rip-offs... does this remind anyone of a particular recent movie?
