Don, Sal, and Peggy are the only characters of the show that I find interesting. And while Don and Peggy seem to be the main characters, I don't feel like I really know them. I find myself wishing it spent more time elaborating on their issues and history. Like in Lost. It felt like in every other episode of Lost you really got to know a lot more about a major character or something very significant happened that altered the relationships between characters. In Mad Men, things just... roll over. There's no catharsis.

It's one of those things you just "get into". You get into the characters, their lives at home and at work, and the way they interact, no matter how dull or how volatile. The interplay is extremely well done, and the period is an interesting backdrop, which really brings out some of the outlying social issues of the time.

It's a good show, to me.
I think maybe some people went into it with different expectations.
This is precisely why i enjoy it so much. What others have called boring i find interesting. I think its very well written. I don't find the character development flawed whatsoever. I think some people can't get interested in dialogue oriented shows.
