For RPG's I'd go with TES: Skyrim.

For RTS I'd go with Rome: Total War, maybe Total War: Rome II once it comes out, though C&C is high up there.

For FPS Halo 4.

For racing I'd probably go with Burnout Revenge.

For action-adventure either Assassins Creed 2, or AC: Brotherhood.

For 3PS I'd go with Gears of War 2 or 3.

Platformer would be Super Mario World.

For survival horror, probably one of the Dead Rising games. Maybe one of the Dead Space games.

I can't pick for music games, it'd probably be something like a mix of Rock Band 2, for the on disc setlist, multiplayer, world tour, with Guitar Hero 3's hitbox sizes, with Rock Band 3's DLC, pro modes/instruments, with Rocksmith's pro/real guitar chart layout, and ability to use any guitar with 1/4 inch output.

Overall I'd have to go with Halo 4.

You have to be kidding me. Halo 4 is a rehash of Reach, which was a rehash of 3, which was a rehash of 2, which was a rehash of CE, the only fresh innovative game in the series

Actually, I take that back, 2 deserves credit for basically making Xbox Live what it is. Every other game in the series has been bombastic, Michael Bay type firefights over and over again ad nauseam. That's my main gripe with the FPS genre as a whole. If it doesn't introduce some sort of open world or RPG elements (a la Borderlands or Fallout), it is simply another generic corridor shooter. Those got old long ago, unless they manage to excel in another category, like Bioshock did with it's story.

I definitely agree with your opinion, although I don't really thinking saying "basically making Xbox Live what it is." is a compliment. I mean it's a financial success, but holy shit it has to have the single worst user base of all time. Nothing like having a 14 year old tell me all the foul things he's done to my mother, and while I know the option to mute mics is available, it really doesn't actually solve the problem.

Fat, Ugly or Slutty

I know not everybody on Xbox Live are like the people from that website, but there are really no repercussions for the harassment people experience (usually women) while they try to game. It makes me curious how many women actually cancel their Xbox Live membership, and there's no reason for Microsoft not to do something about it.

I dunno, I'm pretty biased against multiplayer because it seems like only a few games come around each year that excel in the story department. I can't help but notice this shift started around the point when multiplayer started to get really popular, like around 2004-2005 with the rise of Xbox Live.

What bugs me the most is I wonder how many of these people who sexually harass women are under the age of 18, as children and teenagers are more likely to have a console. I mean what would their parents think if they found out their 13 year old messaged a female player that he was going to rape her? Dig deep enough on that website and you'll find those examples, and not only the horrible implications of an emerging generation of misogynistic men, and this just seems to be completely ass backwards. I know it's the anonymity that makes people be complete assholes online, but the implications that this could have on the future is kind of frightening.

I agree, his list is mostly shit.

I guess I should've said "for better or for worse, Halo 2 has made Xbox live what it is". And I personally would go with worse also.

As for console online multiplayer, I don't touch it unless I'm playing with friends and I hate the shift towards multiplayer-centric content as well. It's making me seriously consider getting a gaming PC and ditching consoles altogether, because with online gaming came day one DLC and all that other nonsense.

Gotcha, sorry if it felt like I was going off there, it's a subject that's been on my mind for awhile but with nobody to really share it with.

So much fuss over that game. To be honest it wasn't a striking game aesthetically neither was the cover information (since I don't know what the hell it's about). People just pretty much just chanted Skyrim Skyrim Skyrim!! Awersum!!!!1

I decided to buy GTA 4 instead.

What do you think of it?

I don't like it that much but I'm only 10% into the game. Still on the first island.

The first part (well 10%) is quite generic, but you got to be patient for the build. The slow, draggy introduction will take a turn into an action packed, suspenseful, and twisted story. You also meet some interesting people. Gameplay will become a lot more fun as the story goes.

I'm only 25% but that's because I've been doing all the side quests.
