Playstation 3 Official Thread

I've looked through the threads and haven't seen a PS3 thread.

I personally can't find a gaming forum around that is so friendly as this forum. Even though this is all music forum, I'd thought to add a Gaming thread.

Anyone who has a PS3 with news, reviews and pictures post here!

Why do you think PS3 needs its own thread? It has practically the same games as XBOX 360. I know it has some of its own titles but most games are muti-platform.

I haven't seen a PS3 thread, I have nothing against Xbox because I've actually had one for a year or so... Went back to the Playstation.

Why shouldn't there be a PS3 thread, I just want to discuss gaming with other enthusiasts...

I used to be on PS3, but since I played CoD, I got sick of the hackers ruining the game, so I was forced to switch to Xbox. I don't hate PS3, just some of the players.

I still fire up my ps3 every couple of days or so. Kind of annoyed at the Tony Hawk HD remake that didn't include an option to create a custom skater or split-screen modes.

If anyone wants to add me to their PSN list my user name is Panbient. Just add a little message saying you're adding me from MB when you make the request please.

Might take you up on that offer of adding you, what games have you got?

For the most part my collection is mainly PSN titles. I don't game on it that much but it's always fun to be able to compare trophy collections. Other than that I have an unhealthy amount of Guitar Hero / Rock Band titles, Gran Turismo5, Borderlands, and Sacred 2, also have Borderlands 2 pre-ordered because it's that awesome.

Oh hell yeah, Borderlands 2 commercials are making me want to cry in a good way.

I've actually been keeping myself in the dark for it. Next weekend is going to be ridiculous at my neighbor's place, since his roommates (a couple) will have their own copy and ps3/tv setup in their bedroom while we play on his tv in the living room. I've never played all the way through with 4 players before, pretty stoked

Graphics look very similar and gameplay very much the same. I don't consider that bad in anyway though because the original is one of the better games on ps3 to date. Certainly looking forward to it.

Has anyone else ever experienced any problems connecting their PS3's to their home networks? I've been trying to get my roommate's PS3 hooked up so I can download Journey, but every time I try and connect, I get told that I was timed out in obtaining an IP Address. Only way I got around this was by disabling my network security, which I don't like doing for obvious reasons. I've also tried entering in my information manually and I still get the same error message. I know I'm typing in everything correctly too, so that can't be the problem.

Are you using a wire of the built in wi-fi? I remember having hassles with mine until I ran a wire. Aside from that maybe look into your network settings to open specific ports just for the PS3? Good luck

We're running it on Wifi, the modem is down in the basement and the PS3 is upstairs in the living room. If I were to drill a hole above where the modem is it would go into someone's room, then we'd have to run it all the way across the house, so that's kind a no option.

What do you mean by opening specific ports though, that's an option that I haven't seen expressed on other forums citing fixes so I'm willing to give that a shot. Could you give me the basic run down, please?

Sorry I'm not much of a network tech it's just something I've heard in relation to issues similar to this. What I assume is you'd find out what ports the PS3 tries to communicate with then set conditions within your router / network settings to not apply security to those specific ports so that the communication can happen without issue.

What are the other suggestions getting tossed your way?

LoathsomePete 09-16-2012 07:39 PM

Well I inadvertently when I bought a new router to replace the one I accidentally locked myself out of, so all is good... except for being $50 poorer.

Is anyone else excited for The Last of Us?

I'm nervous it's going to be too much cinema self-indulgent exposition and not enough fun videogame, but the graphics look great.

I've had a look at it, not sure about it but might get it when it's a bit cheaper.
