Most Misleading Films

I've become a professional wrestler, and have come into contact with former wrestlers who've been in the bigs, current wrestlers seeking the bigs, and others just breaking into the scene.

As such, I've reviewed "The Wrestler" by Aronofsky, and it couldn't be farther from the truth.

Every single wrestler I've come into contact with, be they a noob, an indie wrestler, a former major wrestler, or a current major wrestler...has condemned this film as being horribly inaccurate.

And from my personal experience, that's not even remotely how it goes.

I believe you, but I'm still curious as to how it is inaccurate. Do you have an example of something it portrays in a wrong way?

'Bronson' was a misleading film, the amount of people who though it was going to be about something else is staggering.

Also, when Dune came out it was hyped as the next big thing. Very misleading for those who thought it was going to be a simple sit and watch move.

Great film, but this makes it out to be some kind of action/thriller/violent movie :D

Well the one that immediately jumps to mind is The Village by M Night Shyamalan, but I think that was more the film's marketing than anything else.

Any movie in the '90's about computer hacking is pretty much completely retarded with Hackers (1995) being one of the most notorious contenders, although The Net (1995) was pretty ridiculous too. Still no movie depicts hacking in a more implausible light than Live Free Or Die Hard... yeah if you could hack streetlights and make explosions, I'm pretty sure 4Chan would have destroyed the world by now.

I enjoyed the film, but man was I disappointed that they didn't turn out getting killed by hill billy zombies.

I remember when I was little being infatuated with Indiana Jones and what I thought was archeology. I was destined to do what he did in the movies when I grew up, I just knew it.

Not long after I saw a documentary on modern archeology…with computers…

As you can see from the DVD cover, it looks like an all out action 300 type of film and instead it's an arthouse film that moves at a snails pace. However I think it's an amazing film and probably the most visually stunning film since Suspiria in it's use of colour.

It's from the same director of Bronson that was mentioned earlier in the thread (as well as Drive) and talking of Bronson, that film is superb too.

Cabin in the woods.
From the trailer it looks like a regular slasher/horror with teenagers trapped in a haunted cabin or something similar... the trailer is constructed in a way so the movie looks scary (well, scary-ish, it looks like a dumb slasher). This is why I avoided this for a while after it was released, I thought I'd see nothing new.
Boy is this misleading. The movie itself is more a comedy, a parody of many horror/sf/popculture cliches. I enjoyed it very much but I know several people that were very disappointed as they were expecting something completely different.
