Will this be considered trolling if I say Steam Box ?:> I know it's not out yet and god only knows what will be in it, but something that looks and works like a console but runs PC games and gives you all the gaming options a PC offers (like for example modding your games) sound like a win to me.
my first console was atari 2600 but let's face it, it was crap. Especially since there was no way of getting cartridges in my country so I was stuck playing the 128 or so games it came with, half of which were unplayable from the start.
ps3 move is very well done, I enjoy it very much, so I guess my vote goes to ps3.

That sounds fappingly good, I am a big PC gamer but want to expand to console gaming.

Is that a real thing? If so, I want one. I gave up PC games a long time ago because unlike the more sophisticated gamers, I hate using a keyboard as a joystick.
The Magnavox Odyssey² was my first console and I remember being barely able to read when my dad brought it home. It had a keypad that looked like something that might be in my kindergarten classroom and I really liked looking at numbers and letters. Atari 2600 was, of course, much more fun and then the Commodore 64 came to me which was technically a PC but I only ever used it for games. Then I wasted my elementary school days with the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
PS2, Nintendo Gamecube, and Xbox360 are my current favorites only because I happen to have them. PS2 was the only one I bought by choice.

The next console I'll buy is whatever's the cheapest a few years after it's release.

What is the steam box ?

Not much is known at this moment, but Valve invested so much into this that I think it will be released next year as they promise.

My favourite at the moment is my PS3 - free online play or if you choose to pay the same amount as the default Xbox service you get a premium membership (discount on DLC content and free games every now and again - like last week was Bioshock2).

Though the best console ever in my eyes was the SNES.

I honestly don't remember the first game I bought but the first one I received was the original Metroid. Christmas 88... also remember turning off the game and getting the Lockerbie bombing news footage too

Steam box looks really awesome too but I'm not holding my breath on that. Probably 2020 before it hits shelves.

its actually coming next year
Valve confirms Steam Box coming in 2013, says it will compete with next-gen consoles - Video Games | Games Reviews Online in India - Video Games | Games Reviews Online in India

then again this is valve so "next year" may also mean never

It makes me incredibly curious if Valve is going to release the much anticipated Half-Life 2: Episdoe 3 as a launch title to entice people into buying one, then a regular release a few months later. I'll admit, if that's the case I'd be camping out for one.

My first game...probably red alert 1. My cousin had it, and it introduced mt to rts's which I stuck with for a long time. All the westwood/CnCs, WoW, CoH, DoW, SupCom.

Had a 360 for four years, it died a year ago, am getting a ps3 soon. I played the xbox exclusives I wanted to, and a few games coming on the ps3 look too good to miss.

I think the first game that I, personally, bought was Guitar Hero. I know, I'm such a child. :p:

As far as classic consoles, N64 and Gameboy Color all the way, yo.
