And after I watch it I'm like

And whenever something serious rather than funny happens, it's always SUPER SERIOUS and I'm like

It's cute but I don't really get the absolute adoration it and it's similar counterpart My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic gets from older fans.

djchameleon 07-19-2013 08:30 PM

I hate it soooo much.

A friend of mines loves it to death and it just annoys me so much with the randomness for the sake of being random.

Adventure Time is a cute, funny show normally... but it can tackle some seriously heavy stuff, which is where the show really shines. When a kid's show is talking about death (all the time), Alzheimer's (of a sorts), gender roles, religion, and has what may be the first same-sex relationship in a children's cartoon, you know that they're a little bit more serious than the average Cartoon Network stuff.

Psychedub Dude 07-19-2013 10:50 PM

I like Adventure Time in small doses, it's funny but sometimes just straight up weird. I much prefer Regular Shows off beat and quirky formula.

Circe 07-20-2013 05:04 AM

It's pretty much the best thing on TV. I'm kind of glad I didn't watch it as a child just because the amount of dirty stuff they slip under the radar is a wonder to behold.

LoathsomePete 07-20-2013 09:44 AM

Yeah but that makes it all the more fun to go back and watch as an adult. I've caught the occasional Animaniacs episode over the years and I've been amazed at what I've found.

I'm sorry but do you really think this is like MLP?

It's my favorite show on television right now. If you really want me too I can name some episodes that you guys will love because they don't deal with noraml story lines that the show deals with. I love every episode but some are absolute works of art that need to be seen by every one. Basically what I'm saying is that this a show where every single episode is different. It's like casting off Chinese cuisine because you don't like lo mein.

Circe 07-20-2013 11:00 AM

Lemongrab is an absolute masterpiece of a character. The moment where he gets beaten up and starts crying is up there with Pixar in sadness.

Lemongrab is good and all, but if we're talking about truly sad episodes, it's gotta be "I Remember You." Or "Holly Jolly Secrets Part II." And definitely "Simon & Marcy."

Really, any episode featuring Ice King as the main character, is probably soul-crushingly depressing.

WWWP 07-20-2013 11:33 AM

Absolute best. 10/10

I meant that in the context that it's a show ostensibly aimed at children but has a strong adult following and both fan groups praise it for it's writing and the messages it imparts upon the younger, targeted demographic.

Again, I don't think it's a bad show, it's cute and it's something I would go to if I wanted an immediate dose of levity in my life, but I've never felt the urge to binge watch it.

It's like Superjail for children, so complex and moving that I can say it's the best animated show I've seen on TV for a long while.

I agree with your statement and also want to give you an actual high five for what is the greatest avatar I've ever seen on this site.

Funkmaster Red 07-31-2013 05:30 AM

Yeah this show is something else it's definitely not like any traditional cartoons were there's a different story ever episode (for the most part). It's more like an anime where there's any actually storyline to the show. I have to say I do watch the show sometimes and my personal favorite character's are Jake, The Lich King and Abracadaniel lol

Funkmaster Red 08-06-2013 03:30 AM

I have to say other than Jake tha dog, Abracadaniel is a second best lol

So was anyone else weirded out by last night's episode? I mean, every episode is weird, but what with Flame Princess leaving/all the weird vaguely sexual dreams that Finn was having, it seems like the makers of AT may be leaving the straight-up kiddie storylines that they've done in the past and start moving toward more stories focused on teenagers. I mean, it was almost blunt with that last dream, Finn turned into a weird hairy man-baby, which is really all teenagers are.

Shoot. Shouldnt have read this as I havent seen the new one yet haha. I do have to say that the last couple episodes have been very strong (Finding BMOs creator has potential to be pretty important to the overall plot/what happened in the war). Ill watch the newest one tonight hopefully

Psychedub Dude 08-07-2013 10:23 AM

Anyone remember that episode where Finn found the bag filled with a bunch of miniature versions of him and all his friends? That one was weird as hell haha

Ninetales 08-07-2013 12:04 PM

Magic man gave him those. Hes another character id like to see some more background on. Especially after the mars episode. Hes has, what seems like, an interesting past

FaSho 08-07-2013 12:17 PM

Do you guys know of a site where you can watch recent episodes?

Guybrush 08-07-2013 12:26 PM

Me and my wife got into this a little while ago as it was on Netflix and gobbled up the first season. Unfortunately, that's all there is on Netflix .. We want more!

Whoops! Sorry dude and/or dudette. And yes, the last few episodes have all been great. I'm looking forward to this new, strong direction.

That one was really funny, not just because it was completely absurd but because it was so obviously parodying the shippers in their fanbase. It takes some balls to make an episode making fun of your own fans. I had to respect the cajones.

To both of you, here is a link I found on Tumblr that has every episode up to Season 5 for download... I got it a month or two back so it doesn't have the very latest episodes, but it has the rest of them, so that's something. Hopefully the links still work.

Also, I'm never able to be at home when the episodes air, so I follow a guy on Youtube, ultradogHD. He posts the new episodes in very high quality every single Monday only hours after they air (or even less, sometimes!). He takes them down on Tuesday night, that way Youtube doesn't have a chance to ban his account, so as long as you can get to him in time you're good. He also posts Regular Show episodes. Enjoy.

I got one for all yall real AT. Now I can recalled seeing two more humans (other than Finn & Susan strong) in two separate episodes. If you think u know which ones I'm thinking about then please describe the episode at least.

Here's a hint for the first one: colosseum
And the other: 60's beach babes

Marceline’s track in the battle of the bands ep really reminds me of Angel Olsen.

It's literally an Angel Olsen song that they got permission to use. Good ear!

Stephen 04-11-2019 06:18 PM

Oh I guess my ears aren’t that good. Apparently it’s a Mitski song. Can’t say I’m familiar with her but might have to give her a listen.
