I agree. That's a pretty good assessment like some of the lgbt jokes were funny but it was like move on already... **** is starting to become a fixation.

I also noticed he shifted a towards more black identity politics to deflect from the lgbt criticism so he's definitely playing the game

He's pretty much always talked about race a lot. I think he fell off a while ago but lol.

Right? There's definitely other stuff out there I'd love to hear him make jokes about. I mean, there's plenty of other comedians making jokes about this stuff (Covid, Trump, Biden, Kanye West, Afghanistan, etc.), but none of those comedians are Dave Chappelle.

I don't know if deflection was his intention, but I did notice when he mentioned his trans friend - sounded a bit to me like the classic "But I have black friends!" retort to an accusation of racism.

I didn't get that far but i did hear about he brought up his trans friend who was a comedian who killed themselves after being twitter mobbed for standing by chappelle...

I guess if you wanna put it that way? I think he thinks the online bullying contributed to her into suicide. So if anything he was attacking those people on Twitter...

If you're called out for transphobia and later claim to have a trans friend who you use to turn the conversation away from you that's playing the black friend card. I don't know the situation well enough to be condemning Chappelle but when I see all of your responses I can't help but think that you wouldn't be so charitable to him if you weren't such a fan of his.
