Movies Better Than They Have a Right to Be

Are there movies you like but feel you shouldn't or they don't deserve the credibility you give them?

Moulin Rouge for me. Let's take a look at it. A musical about a colorful brothel; in the early 1900's where they cover 1960's-90's pop songs for a more broadway/stage feel, and has a cheesy romance story that gets hokey and predictable in the end.

From a first look at that, that's the kind of movie that might scare my family away. However, it was well directed, the musical numbers were actually quite good (everything's better with the When the Levee Breaks drum riff), and the cast was great. 84/100, but I can easily see this being a very intolerable film.

I made this thread to see if anyone else feels this way about a movie, so I hope it raises some interesting discussions.

It just sucks though, doesn't it. I enjoy some terribly films for comedy value (such as Troll 2) but I don't get that at all with The Room. Had to stop watching 40 minutes in, and I don't know how I lasted that long.

I think I even messaged Roxy about how awful it was at the time  There's like three terrible sex scenes in the first 20 minutes without changing location. Awful stuff.

I enjoy the movie for how bad it is but at the same time, people give it praise for being one of the best worst movies ever made and I hardly think it's worthy of such a title. At one point maybe I thought that but it's become a strange phenomenon to consider the film great. It's a fun watch and very quotable but the fanbase that surrounds it can be annoying at times.

Which The Room are we talking about? The 2003 one of the 2015 one?

There is only one "The Room".
