I guess in keeping with the tradition of defying expectations, Lynch succeeded. That was not how I'd expect the show to end...

me neither. I was kind of hoping Lynch would have filmed some scenes 25 years ago in an alternate reality where Laura wasn't killed, and he visits the scene. Now that would have proven he wasn't making it up as he went.

hoping for a season 4, but who's to say anything for sure

maybe he expects the audience to do something akin to with Mulholland Dr. and piece it together for themselves, but it comes off to me like a massive cliffhanger, just like S2

So does anyone understand what actually happened here?
