What have hiking and music in common? Rhythm and therapeutic qualities, I think. I`ve never walked on a camino, but the film, in which the filmmaker is not the centre of attention, is inspiring.
All kinds of subtitles.

Quote:
This documentary is about the pilgrims who walk the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. The route has been around since the 9th century and, more than a millennium later, it attracts thousands of pilgrims seeking spiritual experiences every year. In 2018 alone, the pilgrim’s office registered more than 300.000 walkers. But what would drive so many, through incredible lengths?
To discover that, I would cross 900 kilometers across Spain. The journey would take me 32 days, or a total of 1.100.610 steps. After all...
Who are the pilgrims? And why do they walk?

Pilgrims
This looks really interesting. I skimmed through it but will watch it in its entirety sometime.

Different narrative strands create a tightly woven narrative tapestry. The film stands out pleasantly from the intro. A film not only for desert lovers.

Quote:
In Mauritania, the harmattan blows, a dry, dusty wind that sweeps across the desert regions until it buries fields and villages; Sid Ahmed and Mohamed supply these inland areas; they are among the only ones who venture there.
Mauritania. Drivers of the desert.

Right now, I’m watching a mix of YouTube tutorials and a couple of episodes from a new sci-fi series.

I’m currently watching House of the Dragon Season 2 — absolutely loving the politics, tension, and how brutal everything feels again.

On the one hand, the music scene in Crimea is new to me, on the other hand, it sounds familiar due to the many influences from outside. Nice that songs are not just hinted at.

Quote:
Traces of Crimea is a feature film documenting the extraordinary cultural diversity of Crimea. In 2012, Vincent Moon traveled the country, bringing his singular cinematic vision to map the musical terrain of many of the country’s ethnic minorities. He brought back real treasures, a multitude of visual and sound stories which subtly weave together toward the larger impending narrative of the moment, as the spirits of the people sense the annexation to come. A strong, unique document, an ode to the beauty of Tatars, Krymachks, Greek and Bulgarian cultures, magnificently alive.
TRACES OF CRIMEA, Documentary, France, Ukraine, 2024, 76 min
