1 more for frances and daniel

also sam rockwell better win best supporting actor, if the outrage over his last win actually prevents this from happening i will think even less of these stupid award shows.

Frownland 01-23-2018 09:21 AM

Get Out's gonna win best picture because #Oscarssowhite

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 01-23-2018 09:23 AM

it shouldn’t win anything because while it’s pretty good, it’s definitely not oscar worthy.

does that make me racist

#qwertyysowhite

Frownland 01-23-2018 09:25 AM

That would be pretty funny though wouldn't it.

Chiomara 01-23-2018 10:49 AM

The Shape of Water is the only one I've seen out of those :c

I do think Sally Hawkins ought to win something though.

Chula Vista 01-23-2018 11:31 AM

Oldman finally gets his due this year.

yeah, he played a racist character in a film and therefore shouldn’t receive any recognition despite putting on the ****in’ performance of the year as per usual, i guess. the twittersphere got pretty upset when he won an award for it earlier this year.

grindy 01-25-2018 12:49 PM

Which one's the biographical period drama about someone black/gay/female?

Frownland 01-25-2018 01:20 PM

Why are there different categories for best actor and best actress? Sexist as **** imo.

bob. 01-27-2018 10:24 AM

love the Holy Mountain avatar

personally i think these three categories are shoe ins

Three Billboards for best picture.....because it seriously was

Sam Rockwell for best supporting.....anybody bitching about him playing a racist either has not seen the film or is a fucking moron and did not understand the purpose of the film....and really he was more of an all around moronic *******

Allison Janney for best supporting.....she was amazing.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 01-27-2018 12:03 PM

im with ya, coincidentally i saw three billboards three times in theaters. and yes i cried all 3 times.

Agreed. The makeup team for Darkest Hour deserves recognition too.

Dunkirk deserves one for cinematography, imo.

Excuse me but Roger Deakins is going to finally win this year after being snubbed year after year after year and if he doesn't I'll skin a giraffe alive with a tiny bic razor.

Frownland 01-30-2018 08:57 AM

Is there any value in watching Dunkirke if I've already seen more than 5 war movies in my life?

OccultHawk 01-30-2018 09:14 AM

my film nerd friend who has put me onto a ton of fan-****in-tastic films told me it’s a solid 8-9 out of 10.

but it’s war movie directed by nolan so imma pass

Pretty much why I haven't seen it yet.

We are both very cool and edgy.

Pet_Sounds 01-30-2018 02:21 PM

It's not your typical war movie in that there's no cheesy story; the only objective is to put the viewer right in the midst of the action. The main character barely speaks. I actually think you guys would enjoy it.

I'm not surprised at all.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 01-31-2018 04:24 AM

his performance was 10/10 and he deserves every award he’s nominated for btw

MicShazam 01-31-2018 04:28 AM

I just watched Three Billboards and didn't really like it, but that's still a retarded reason to not give the man an oscar/not want him to win an oscar.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 01-31-2018 06:26 AM

you’re retarded for not liking it how about that

MicShazam 01-31-2018 07:16 AM

The only person whose opinions on movies I take seriously are my own.

Frownland 01-31-2018 07:24 AM

Well you should reconsider that because you're missing the character development for the non-traditional ending. At least that's what I assume.

MicShazam 01-31-2018 07:37 AM

I'd say open endings are rather commonplace now, especially to people who watch every kind of movie. I doubt I would change my opinion just based on reading the ending or any single character in the movie differently.

Frownland 01-31-2018 07:39 AM

It does sound like you missed the character development and realism in a big way though. Have you been hanging out with that sister of yours?

You're being too non-specific with the above, basing your stance (seemingly) on nothing specific that I said, even, so what am I to make of this?

Frownland 01-31-2018 07:43 AM

It was based on what you said in the film thread about disliking the main character's actions. But ja you're wrong mate. It's at the very least an 8/10 (I'd say 9).

MicShazam 01-31-2018 07:48 AM

Well I didn't even know you'd read that. My read of the main character isn't even my main beef though. That was more of a side observation.

Frownland 01-31-2018 07:50 AM

Oh ok. Still if you landed on less than an 8/10 then you need to watch it without the hype glasses because you'll see that it really is a great film.

MicShazam 01-31-2018 07:54 AM

There's always the chance that I will catch it again in a few years. I've changed opinions about movies countless times before (although mostly for the worse).

If Deakins finally wins, it's because he's an old white guy. #OscarsSoWhite
