MB's Video Game Classics: Super Mario World

Yep. One of the all time greatest games ever.

The Batlord 07-01-2018 10:43 AM

First game I ever played. Along with Super Mario All-Stars it came with every Super Nintendo and I put so many hours of my life into that game that I probably could have been a successful human being if I'd spent that time doing something productive. **** that though. So much fun to explore that game for every key and then when you get 100% the first time it's like...

This game is seriously perfect I would say. I as well spent many hours of my childhood trying to 100% this game. So much fun.

The Batlord 07-01-2018 10:51 AM

And even though the art design to Yoshi's Island kind of eclipsed Super Mario World it's still one of the best looking games of all-time. It's not often that a platformer sells its world that well.

i want to get one just more focused on other things

MicShazam 07-01-2018 11:57 AM

Never played Nintendo games as a kid, so I've probably never played more than 5 minutes of this. If you didn't grow up with Mario, the whole world and the characters come off as sort of weird looking. Why is he a plumber? Why does everything look like Fisher Price toys? Why does everyone have a porn stache? Mushrooms?! Oh... now it makes sense.

Actually, I think the Mario universe is what happens when a 2 year old has nightmares.

5/5. I think this was the first game i ever 100%

Getting the votes it deserves. Nice. I love this game too.

Bro you remember that one special stage where there's no ground and you gotta blow yourself up like a balloon? **** that level.

Immortal classic.

Played it growing up. Played it last week. 10/10

Do you have any idea how much Super Mario World I've played in my life? Possibly my most played game.

I have it on GBA and if my Advance weren't getting so sketchy I'd start it up.

Key 07-01-2018 05:39 PM

^the game was tough from what I remember so I don't think it was you. I remember dying a lot.

The Batlord 07-01-2018 05:43 PM

TBH the difficulty was a step down from the NES games. Super Mario Bros. 3 goes hard as a bitch.

The Batlord 07-01-2018 06:01 PM

You could. The second-to-last item you got gets stored in a box in the top middle of the screen and drops down if you get hit or you press Select.

Droppin' that Mario knowledge like Bowser tossin' Mechakoopas.

This is true.

Frownland 07-01-2018 06:07 PM

Tasty.

The Batlord 07-01-2018 06:10 PM

Just remembered making sure to get two of an item so I wasn't stuck with a bitchass mushroom after getting hit.

BTW mother****ing Vanilla Dome!

Yeah but it was never as fun as scrambling to get that floating Cape Feather before it fell off the screen.

I have died many times trying to do just this.

Key 07-01-2018 11:23 PM

I think I should also mention how creative and cool the over world map was. Secret levels, branching paths, really well done for a platformer. Plus I just loved unlocking the level with blocks of power ups. I would constantly choose a fire flower and a feather.

The Batlord 07-01-2018 11:27 PM

TFW you unlock you the green blocks and realize they give you cape feathers.

Key 07-01-2018 11:29 PM

I actuslly didn't know that for the longest time. Like...I legit found out about that semi recently. I just never thought about it for whatever reason.

The Batlord 07-01-2018 11:29 PM

Wha... you mean you literally never hit a green block all these years?

Key 07-01-2018 11:30 PM

For whatever reason my mind instantly associated them with blocks you can now walk on. I actually never thought to hit them. I know. It blew my mind when I saw it too.

The Batlord 07-01-2018 11:32 PM

What about the yellow blocks?

Key 07-01-2018 11:36 PM

I dunno. Probably the same. It's been years since I last played this game. Like probably 10+ years. But that's a detail I remember not knowing for a while.
