Default [BONUS POLL] MB's Video Game Classics [Metal Gear Solid Week] MGS V: The Phantom Pain

Now this is a game I know we've probably all either played or have at least watched somebody play. This is by far one of my favorites in the series and even though I've not played it for myself, I've watched a lot of people playthrough it and it seems like the kind of game I'd want to put my time into. I know the story is give or take but the open worldness is something I'm interested in.

It was also just really neat to see how far they've come with MGS to get it to this point. If anything, the game looks beautiful.

And of course, this is an instant 5/5. I'm actually planning to do a playthrough of this game. Probably after I go through GTA V which is my next game of choice.

I just remember enjoying it because it seemed to me like a big step forward, at least in terms of graphics. Though I can certainly understand the criticisms, especially with how many god damn cutscenes there are. So I know that's a big factor. I also know that people just didn't like the expansiveness and they missed the traditional MGS style. Still, can't really say I hate it if I haven't played it so it just goes based on what I've seen, and what I've seen is pretty good if not fantastic stuff.

If the game was released under a different name it's possible I'd like it more. But I just expected so much after the first four. It felt like it lost a bit of it's charm. It didn't really feel like an MGS game to me, I dunno if others feel the same.

I think it was somewhat in between from what I gathered. Some hardcore fans loved it, some didn't. Comes with moving a series to open world tho. It's always hit or miss.

I would probably like it better than the other games because it would allow me to spend much more time on sneaking and much less time on lengthy cut scenes.
