Default Hellboy [2019]

It hits theaters on April 12th, 2019.

My takeaways from the trailer:

This is a reboot, not a third installment of the Guillermo Del Toro series. No Abe Sapien or Liz Sherman. Hellboy seems to be out in the open and known to the public, like in the comic and the second film, not hidden like in the original film. Hellboy has his full horns at some point, signaling that the SHTF.

Had a wee look at the trailer and saw Mo off Eastenders in a corner shop.

Long story short I will be giving this one a go predominantly for the banter.

I'm DEFINITELY gonna see it, but I guess I'll have to suppress my brain's need for the catharsis that a third film from the ending of a Guillermo Del Toro and Ron Perlman trilogy would have brought.

The realisation that Del Toro isn't gonna to go back to Hellboy is the biggest oof.

I reckon if they went with fully serious with Hellboy, did it right and shot it as a noir then it would be an Oscar contender boi

Ditto. It seriously took 2 films to make something worth watching? Clearly a throwaway franchise.

Guillermo Del Toro & Ron Perlman should have done a third film. They still can! Perlman is still acting. They can use stuntmen and CG. Liz is knocked up with twins at the end of Golden Army. It just feels unfinished.

From what I've read online, Mike Mignola [the creator Hellboy] is the one who chose to do a re-boot, instead of a third installment. Apparently, Perlman and Del Toro fought tooth and nail to cap off the trilogy, but Mignola saw bigger dollar signs behind the re-boot. So, he basically said FUCK YOU to us fans.

Actually, I don't think that it looks that bad at all. I like Ron Perlman and it is a shame he isn't in this one. But the new one looks kind of fun.

Actually, I am more interested in the reboot of Pirates of the Carribean without Johnny Depp. He kind of was the entire movie.
