Weekly random recommendations from some guy

Cos my music taste is utter badassery. I'll try to post a random album every week with my description.

This week:

*Insert album cover I can't post because I don't have 15 posts yet, if anyone could Google it on Images and post it here, that'd be nice.*
Great Mountain Fire - Canopy (2011)

Um, starting off with an album that isn't much more than just another indie rock album that's easy on the ears. Why did I post it here? Because I am pretty sure that I'm the only one on this forum who knows about it, and that's kinda sad, because it's good enough to have a bit more recognition.

I'm going to try to help you with your image. If it works, see below...
EDIT: Yeah, I can't edit your posts, only quote them, so not sure if that helps at all?

Hmm. Are you going to review or say anything more about it, or just assume because you think it's great everyone else will too? That probably won't work, as our tastes often clash. The tag "indie" doesn't induce me to seek out this album on its own (though the cool cover is a start) --- if you want to recommend this, then maybe you should give us an idea why? Who does it sound like, what sort of genre are we talking, is it their only one, bit of bio maybe? How about a YouTube?

Just sayin'....

I was gonna say that, but Trollheart got to it first. Troll is an awesome reviewer and poster, listen to any and all the advice that he gives you, Gucci.

Whoops, I kinda forgot about this thread. Excuse me. Also, I don't have too much to say about Canopy, sadly. It's essentially pretty straightforward (but nonetheless good) indie rock. Occassionally they use a flute or a synthesizer to spice things up a bit, but it's mostly just a fun album to listen to. Anyone who likes indie rock and is in for something simple and fun can try this out.

Les examples:

This is my fav from the album and is a good example for what the album mostly brings. Fresh, light indie rock.

This is the closing track from Canopy and one of the most experimental songs on the album. I'm rather fond of this one as well.

Not an album this time, but rather a video game OST that could've been a modern classic amongst indie hiphop just as well.

MadWorld OST

Well yeah, I'm quite a big fan of VGM (video game music), and this is one of the finest OST's I've ever heard. In a video game that is completely black and white (aside from blood, which didn't lose its color and will appear a LOT in this game), the last thing you'd expect is an indie hiphop soundtrack, and yet that's what happened. SEGA found a bunch of talented yet unknown rappers and asked them to spit their rhymes out. Due to the, err, violent nature of this game the lyrics usually are rather sadistic. But what really makes this OST so extremely good is how it can pretty much delight even the biggest hiphop haters by having guitars ripping their way through your ears, using classy trumpets and/or having a dark atmosphere. Despite the fact that the OST has 20 songs, it never bores due to the switching of instruments, styles and rappers. Plus, whiel 20 songs might seem like much, all songs are about 2.5 minutes long, so it doesn't feel dragging. I'd recommend this to everyone who likes anything alternative. Hiphop purists, however... Not sure if this is the right kind of sh*t for the purists, but anybody who is in for something new: Try this out. Now.

I believe you can just buy this on iTunes, but if you're not sure if it's worth your money you can find it on The Pirate Bay if you look around a bit.

Artist list:

Ox
Doujah Raze
Sick YG
Bandy Leggz
Optimus
Wordsmith
S.O.U.L. Purpose

Les examples:

Probably the best track on the OST, extremely classy and catchy, I love this one.

This is some of the dark sh*t I'm talking about.

The chorus is somewhat weak in my opinion, but the verses make more than up for it.
